For the second year in a row, Travel + Leisure included Boulder in its list of the best towns to celebrate July 4th. We couldn’t agree more. From patio restaurants and breweries to hikes and outdoor activities (and not to mention the stunning fireworks show over the Flatirons), Boulder is the place to be to celebrate America’s birthday. Here’s what we’re excited for:
When: Tuesday, July 4, 2017, 8:00 pm (fireworks begin at dark)
Where: Folsom Field
Since 1941, locals and visitors alike have flocked to Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast, a free fireworks show at the University of Colorado’s football stadium, Folsom Field. The festivities include a stadium-wide sing-along, live music performances, and CU’s mascot, Ralphie, running the stadium just like she does before each home football game.
4th of July at the Boulder Reservoir

Whether you enjoy boating, swimming, or running, the beautiful Boulder Reservoir has an activity for you. Starting at 8 am, runners will take off for the 5/10K Craig Towler Freedom Run. Afterward, cool off in the water, enjoy a picnic lunch, and visit the beer garden available at the beach area. The res will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., so you can hang out all day.
The days leading up to Independence Day can be just as eventful as the actual holiday. Round out your July 4 weekend itinerary with these other classic Boulder events:
