September is one of the most enjoyable months in Boulder. The heat of the summer is waxing, the trees are starting to turn red and golden, and the events are, as always, spectacular. Here is just a sampling of the programming available as we transition from summer to fall.
Pridefest
Boulder’s Pridefest returns on Sunday, September 9th. From 11:30am to 6:30pm, attendees can expect an inclusive, welcoming environment with activities for everyone from the littlest tot to the oldest queen. This full-day celebration of Boulder’s LGBTQ+ community is an excellent opportunity to support your neighbors, friends, and family all while having a great–and colorful–time.
Pride & Prejudice at The Dairy
This month, The Dairy offers attendees various opportunities to jump into Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company will debut its interpretation of the classic novel on September 16th, with performances held throughout the month at the Grace Gamm Theater. As a response to this production, Friday Night Weird’s movies on September 7th and 14th feature adaptations of the novel. The first, Bride and Prejudice reimagines the novel as a modern day tale of five unwed Indian sisters. Those looking for more of a laugh will get a kick out of September 14th’s Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, a film based on the adaptation of the same name.
TEDxBoulder
Get inspired and enlightened at this fall’s TEDxBoulder event on September 16th. The theme for this day of important conversations is Rise and Fall. For those who seek to challenge their beliefs, expand their knowledge base, and connect to the world at large, the TEDxBoulder event is the place to be.
Fall Fest
Downtown Pearl St.’s Fall Fest is one of the best ways to celebrate the new season. From a beer garden to live music, wares from local artisans to events for children, Fall Fest has it all. The three-day festival, from September 14th-September 16th, offers attendees a chance to take in the beautiful fall foliage while enjoying the bounties of the community.
Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art
BMoCA always has an impressive array of exhibitions and events, and this September is no different. Starting at the very end of August, visitors to the museum can explore Jason DeMarte’s stunning photo exhibit Adorned. DeMarte’s colorful collection of photography examines the oftentimes uncomfortable intersection between nature and consumer culture.
Along with their exhibits, BMoCA also hosts Artmix every September. Artmix, on September 21st, is the museum’s signature auction and fundraising event. Attendees will dine, drink, and deliberate over pieces of art from across Colorado and the world beyond while raising money that benefitsting the exhibition and outreach programs. It’s one of the most anticipated events of the year at BmoCA, so be sure to purchase your ticket in advance.
September in Boulder is one of the most exciting times to explore the local community. This time of year is for building new connections and learning new things, both of which are priorities of this wonderful town. Whatever your interests may be, you are sure to find an event perfect for you.
