Boulder is world-renowned for our incredible arts scene. We’re home to several remarkable museums and creative spaces, including the new Museum of Boulder, which has been a valuable part of our community for decades. The newly updated location is a must-see for everyone who loves our city. Here’s why we’ve fallen in love with this exceptional museum:
Its New Facility is Breathtaking
The Museum of Boulder has had several homes throughout its lifespan, including the second floor of a schoolhouse and a historic 4,000 square-foot house built in 1899. The museum outgrew its previous site, and after a lengthy renovation period, the new location opened its doors in the Masonic Lodge building downtown. The wait was worth it–the new facility encompasses 18,000-square feet in total, including spacious outdoor and rooftop terraces.
It Captures the Spirit of Boulder
The Museum of Boulder offers an experience that others can’t quite replicate: it encompasses the essence of our city. The task force that led the renovation process spoke with residents to get a feel for what locals were looking for, and the results included a nod to our past, present, and future. Whether you’re new in town or proud to be a long-term resident, you can learn about our city’s remarkable legacy at this museum. If you’re interested in our city’s history, you can get a comprehensive overview at the Boulder Experience exhibit, starting November 17.
It’s Family-Friendly
Our city offers a great selection of cultural sites, but not every location is suitable for kids. The Museum of Boulder hopes to inspire a love of learning in each one of our residents, including little ones. That’s why they’ve worked hard to create engaging exhibits and hands-on experiences for individuals of all ages, from pre-K to adulthood. From NASA exhibitions to “Da Vinci’s Modern Tinkershop,” the whole family can find something to be inspired by here.
It Offers Awesome Views
If you’ve lived in Boulder for a while, you may take our city’s natural beauty for granted. To experience the breathtaking mountain and urban views from an aerial perspective, stop by the museum for a Saturday barre class and enjoy the rare opportunity to look down on the city from the museum’s rooftop.
It’s Easily Accessible
It can be challenging to fit in hobbies and entertainment when you have a packed schedule. Luckily, the new Museum of Boulder has convenient hours throughout the week and weekend. Although they’re closed on Tuesdays, the museum is open to the public from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm during the week, and from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
