Father’s Day is just around the corner, and if you haven’t come up with a gift yet, we’ve got some excellent suggestions for you. Instead of giving dad something boring, like another “World’s Best Dad” coffee mug, give him a gift he’ll never forget.
Grab a Bite
Taking dad out for a killer lunch is a great way to kick off Father’s Day. Boulder and its surrounding areas offer some of the best BBQ I’ve ever tasted. Two places that stand out above the rest are Lulu’s BBQ in Louisville, and Wild Mountain Smokehouse & Brewery in Nederland.
Lulu’s serves up the most hardcore BBQ around – there’s no question about it. The qualities of their meats, and their time-tested smoking techniques, have given this place a stellar reputation that is not to be questioned. Beer Can Chicken, Wings, Ribs, Pulled Pork, and Smoked Sausage are just a few of the items on their menu.
Tucked away in the mountains just west of Boulder, Wild Mountain is another barbeque haven. From smoked Prime Rib to a marinated Tofu Platter, Wild Mountain has something for everyone. Aside from their incredible menu, they also brew up their own beer. What can be better than home cooking, accompanied by home-brewed beer?
Did Someone Say Golf?
If dad’s a golfer, then the best way to spend Father’s Day is on the course. Treat him to 18 holes at Flatirons Golf Course, Boulder’s premier golf club. With breathtaking views of the Rockies at nearly every hole, it’s the most beautiful golf course around. Tee-times start as early as 6:00 am, so you’d even be able to add on a nice dinner afterwards.

Is He A Thrill Seeker?
Treating dad to a nice dinner or a day of golf can be fun, relaxing, and a great way to catch up. But lets face it, some fathers would rather bond over something a little more exhilarating. How about taking the old man skydiving? The Mile-Hi Skydiving Center in Longmont is one of Colorado’s most reputable skydiving facilities, offering jumps for both beginners and experts. Whether you dive in tandem, or try the accelerated free fall – it’ll be a day that goes down in history.
If jumping out of planes isn’t quite your ad’s forte, and you still want to appease his thrill seeking side, consider taking him out to test drive some of the world’s most exotic cars. Exotic Drives of Denver offers several different driving packages that will make dad happier than a kid in a candy store. Just picture the smile on his face as he takes off in a Lamborghini Gallardo. Is he a Ferrari man? No problem, they have those too!
For the Outdoorsman

Some people prefer to spend their time outdoors, away from the sounds of the city. If this sounds like your dad, then a weekend camping trip might prove to be the best Father’s Day gift he could ask for. Colorado has some of the most beautiful campsites in the country, and many are just a short ride away.
Take for instance, Rocky Mountain National Park, which has an abundance of campsites for both tent-camping and RV-camping. If you’d rather branch out further, the Great Sand Dunes are a spectacular place to set up your tent and spend the weekend.
At the end of the day, most dads just want to spend time with their kids. No matter how you choose to spend Father’s Day – be it by doing something utterly insane like jumping out of a plane, or simply grabbing a delicious meal together – make sure to let him know how much he means to you.
So…what are YOU planning for Dad this year?
