Host to one of the country’s best farmer’s market, it’s no surprise Boulder County is also home to some of the finest (and freshest) farm-to-table dinners. These dinners, hosted by and located at local farms throughout Boulder, bring together the community in traditional farm-to-table style. Here are a few favorites around town well worth checking out:
This Longmont farm first opened in 1975 with a herd of cattle and a band of barbed wire fencing. Now, it’s grown to a sustainable (all their tractors are solar electric – designed and built right on the farm), diversified, and organic operation with a knack for hosting beautiful events like weddings, fundraisers, and yes – farm to table dinners.
Lone Hawk Farm’s “Farm-to-Table Dinner Series” runs from June until October, making it one of the season’s longest farm-to-dinner series in Boulder. At a Lone Hawk Farm dinner, you can expect to enjoy innovative menus crafted around the day’s harvest, beautiful outdoor vistas while you dine, and an unforgettable evening in the company of the farmers, chef, and staff who create these cherished events.
With only one farm-to-table dinner a month from July through August, these Lafayette-based farm dinners are well worth the month-long wait. The menus are created around a theme, so the exact menu is a welcome surprise to diners based on the best of Three Leaf Farm’s daily harvest. For example, their August farm-to-table dinner is themed, “Summer’s Bounty” as August is a time where the harvest of the farm is at its peak.
On the other hand, July’s theme is based on “one of nature’s most delicious and versatile ingredients – the Mushroom”. These dinners (even the mushroom dinner) are not usually vegetarian, but Three Leaf Farm prides itself on accommodating food allergies and preferences – simply request your meal be vegetarian or inform them of any dietary restrictions you may have and they’ll take care of the rest.
Another great Longmont Farm is nestled between beautiful cottonwoods and Left Hand Creek, which is where you’ll be dining if you join Ollin Farms for one of their five farm-to-table dinners this summer. Celebrating the farm’s 10th anniversary, this summer’s dinner series is particularly special. Kicking off the summer series on July 22, Ollin Farms is hosting a farm-to-table social. With special farm fresh hors d’oeuvres provided by The Roost, drinks by Still Cellars and Left Hand Brewery, and musical entertainment from Danny Shafer & Chris Ramey, Ollin Farms 10th anniversary farm-to-table social will be hard for any food, drink, or music lover to pass up.
Though located just a few minutes from downtown Boulder, once you arrive you’ll feel as if you’re miles away on this cozy farm near Colorado’s historic Valmont Butte. Boasting not only “Mingle & Feast” events June through October, where all are welcome to “mingle and feast” with other farm-fresh food lovers and enjoy the farm’s homemade brick oven pizzas, 63rd Street Farm also hosts “Seed-to-Plate” dinners.
These dinners run from June through October and offer seasonal dishes grown from seed right on their farm. Partnered with Laudisio’s Catering, the farm offers the best culinary talents around – that means guest chefs and ever-changing menus to keep you coming back for more.
While these are just a few of the many farm (or seed)-to-table dinners around Boulder, there’s something for every discerning taste – from mushroom feasts to brick oven pizza made and enjoyed right on the farms. Do you have a favorite farm-to-table dinner series? Let us know in the comments below!
