Cheese, wine, chocolate, craft beer, spirits, and pie all have one thing in common: you’ll be able to enjoy tastings and pairings of all these mouthwatering items simply by living in Boulder. Colorado is known for its plethora of craft breweries and cheese-producing farms, and as such, there are a number of fun and extraordinary tasting events all around our community. Here we list a selection of great events in store for Boulderites in the near future:
Daniel “The Lion” Day Vodka Tasting Fundraiser
Where: Sill Terhar Lamborghini Showroom – 150 Alter Street, Broomfield, CO 80020
When: July 16, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
If you haven’t heard of Daniel “The Lion”, read about who Daniel is and learn why this is such a special fundraiser to support. While aiding this admirable cause, enjoy Double Cross Vodka tastings, as well as a molecular nitro food station. There will be a silent auction, awesome gift bag, and perhaps most importantly, all proceeds will benefit Daniel “The Lion” Day.
Craft Chocolate Tasting at The Preservery with Simran Sethi
Where: The Preservery – 3040 Blake Street #101, Denver, CO, 80205
When: July 18, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.
Join Simran Sethi, author of Bread, Wine, Chocolate: The Slow Loss of Foods We Love – named one of the best food books of the year by Smithsonian Magazine, as you learn about the history of chocolate. Learning is only the beginning, though…you will also taste chocolates from three different countries (Belize, Bolivia, and the Dominican Republic). What’s more, you will also enjoy chocolate bars from craft chocolate makers Ritual, Taza, Dick Taylor, and others. This is a unique tasting opportunity no chocolate lover should miss.
Pie & Whisky Pairing with Lentine
Where: Boulder Cycle Sport – 4580 Broadway #B, Boulder, CO 80304
When: July 18, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.
Get ready to indulge in the perfect summertime treats: pie, ice cream, and whisky. Chef and former professional athlete Lentine Alexis will use her extensive travel experience (and classical cuisine training) to create a delicious assortment of pies paired with ice cream and whisky. If this sounds like an odd combination, then you simply must try it. After all, if pies, ice cream, and whisky can fuel an accomplished professional triathlete, they can fuel you, too.
Where: The West End Tavern – 926 Pearl Street, Boulder, CO 80302
When: July 29, 2017 at 12:00 p.m.
The 9th annual event features a live auction, food, music, and of course, IPA tastings from 18 breweries, including Asher Brewing, Avery Brewing, Left Hand Brewing and more. This rooftop party aims to bring together “brewers, beer geeks + the community”. Even better, all proceeds benefit Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence.
Where: Colorado Convention Center – 700 14th St, Denver, CO 80202
When: July 29, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
Hosted by The American Cheese Society, “Cheese with Altitude” is an annual festival featuring over 1,800 types of cheese. As well as tasting more cheese than you can shake a proverbial stick at, you will also be able to sample such accompaniments as charcuterie, chocolate, craft beer, and cider.
Brie & Camembert & Other “Bloomy Rind” Cheeses with Wine Pairing
Where: The Art of Cheese at Haystack – 505 Weaver Park Road Unit E, Longmont, CO 80501
When: July 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
Enjoy sampling different types of bloomy rind cheeses while sipping on expertly paired wine at this event. Not only will you try a variety of cheese and wine while exploring the history and process of making cheese, but you will also create your own wheel of Baby Brie to take home to ripen and (eventually) eat.
