As Boulderites, we are fortunate to have a pretty awesome selection of shopping and accommodations. This is especially advantageous in February, when everyone is looking for memorable ways to spend Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re after the ideal gift or would like to spend a romantic night on the town, you’re in for a real treat.
With the special day quickly approaching, here’s a list of some of our favorite places for making this Valentine’s Day in Boulder one for the ages.
Gifts
Todd Reed
What you’re going to love about Todd Reed and his team is the quality of their products. Famous for their craftsmanship using an array of mediums, Boulder’s fashionistas regularly turn to Todd Reed for that perfect gift idea. Todd’s use of unconventional materials really sets these bracelets, rings, and other high-end accessories apart. Raw diamonds make an appearance in many of his pieces, and truly bring his vision of “raw elegance” to life. Whoever you’re shopping for, they’ll appreciate any of these one-of-a-kind works of art.
Art + Soul
Another one of our favorite places for gift shopping is Art + Soul. Popular for their diverse in-store selection, this is a great go-to for any of your Valentine’s Day needs. Customers shop here for two reasons. One is their variety of beautiful jewelry – perfect for making your significant other swoon. The other is their selection of fine art and home decor. Items from Art + Soul are fun and contemporary, and they will easily become timeless additions to anyone’s collection. With pieces from extremely talented artists, their diverse representation of art and jewelry is unparalleled in the Boulder area.
Restaurants
Flagstaff House
Originally built as a cabin in 1929, Flagstaff House has no shortage of history to go along with its world-class menus. Regularly praised as being one of Boulder’s top restaurants, this destination is just a ten-minute drive from town and provides some of the most beautiful views you’ll see all year. Overlooking the city at about 6,000 ft., guests are treated to quite the dining and viewing experience. In addition to the breathtaking scenery, there are also some phenomenal food offerings (be sure to try their divine caviar). Flagstaff’s variety of wild game choices, paired with an expansive cheese and wine list makes this Colorado eatery stand out. As USA Today put it, what makes this place special is how “unique and representative of Boulder culture” the Flagstaff House really is.
Dushanbe Tea House
There’s nothing quite like a Valentine’s Day dinner done right, and when it is served by one of Boulder’s most unique restaurants, you have a surefire win. The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse will be hosting a four-course prix fixe dinner the night of February 14, one that promises to be a phenomenal meal with an exotic touch. Popular for their fine international cuisine and some of the best tea in town, this is certainly one event that you can’t pass up. Reservations are going quickly, so call as soon as possible.
Frasca Food and Wine
What’s Valentine’s Day without a great glass of wine? Frasca Food and Wine has you covered. Founded by Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey and Chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson, this Boulder hot spot serves up some of the best Italian meals this side of the Atlantic. More specifically focused on food from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in Northeast Italy, Friulano cuisine celebrates the beauty of the fresh ingredients that are abundant in the area. The epitome of modern-meets-rustic, Frasca creates an unforgettably luxe dining experience, taking guests on a culinary adventure through the Carnic and Julian Alps that line the region’s borders. Their V-Day festivities include a four course tasting menu that’s sure to be something special. Did we mention the drink list boasts over 200 different wines to choose from? There’s no way to go wrong with this one.

Hotels

Hotel Boulderado
Looking for a romantic stay this Valentine’s Day? The Hotel Boulderado is a great choice. This historic hotel has been a downtown landmark since its inception in 1909, and is full of beautiful rooms that are bursting with character. Flash back to simpler times as you get carried away in Boulder’s best-known time machine. The stained glass ceiling, cherry cantilevered staircase, and original tile floor in the lobby are just a few of the distinctly Victorian-era touches you’ll notice as you check in to one of Colorado’s most iconic hotels. In addition to its bright past, you’ll love that the hotel partners with Marianna’s L ‘Esthetique Medi Spa to indulge visitors with a relaxing massage experience, offering the perfect complement to your romantic weekend.
St Julien Hotel and Spa
I’d highly recommend St Julien for Boulder accommodations. If you’re looking for a lavish stay, you’re going to love what you find here. Just a short walk away from Pearl Street, St Julien features a number of wonderful guest options, including their popular Romance Package, which includes chocolate covered strawberries and a chilled bottle of champagne awaiting you as you make your way into one of their luxurious rooms. An in-house spa and on-site fine dining round out their high-end customer experience. Heralded with both local and national accolades, you’ll find that St Julien is a modern interpretation of the finer things in life – perfect for any Valentine’s Day getaway.
