Boulder County ushered in the summer season with its annual Boulder Creek Festival, so what better way could there be to end summer than the Boulder Creek Hometown Festival? Celebrate summer one final time (or better yet, three times) at Central Park from September 2, 2017 – September 4, 2017. Here are just a few reasons to closeout the season with the Boulder Creek Hometown Festival:
Entering its 19th year, the Hometown Festival is a well-oiled machine at this point. Arts & crafts, exhibitions and exhibitioners, live music, and food and drink vendors are all on the agenda and ready to entertain…but those are just the basics of what the Festival has to offer.
First off, the Boulder Creek Hometown Festival is actually comprised of two distinct festivals: Hometown Fest East and Hometown Fest West.
Hometown Fest East will take place just east of Broadway and include the Bandshell performance stage, a beer garden, food court, and numerous vendors showing off their wares and what makes Boulder such a special place to live. Vendors will line the north and south side of the Boulder Creek in Central Park. Hometown Fest East will also be host to the 6th Annual LETR StarLite Classic Car & Motorcycle Show, which supports more than 14,000 of Colorado’s courageous Special Olympic Athletes. The event enables communities to raise awareness, funds, and support for Special Olympics Colorado.
Hometown Fest West will aptly take place just west of Broadway on the Municipal Building lawn. There, you can find the Sports & Kids Expo featuring sports gear, technology & equipment. There will be an assortment of live demos and interactive experiences displaying Boulder’s prospering and progressive sports and tech scene. Be sure to stop by the climbing wall, bungee trampoline, obstacle course, and zip line (among other attractions) while you’re there. Additionally, Hometown Fest West will feature special events such as the infamous Great Zucchini Race, Big Wheel 300 Races, and the 6th Annual Hometown Festival 5k.
The Hometown Festival starts Saturday, September 2 at 10:00 a.m. and continues through 10:00 p.m. that evening. Then on Sunday it all starts back up again at 10:00 a.m. for 12 undisturbed hours of entertainment (though music and food vendors will be closing down at 9:00 p.m. both nights). And then before you know it, Labor Day arrives to mark the close of the Festival on Monday, September 4. The final day of the three-day event begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m., with a goodbye to summer and a hello to fall.
As tickets are free, so meander between both East and West Festivals and embrace the variety of culture and entertainment surrounding you throughout Labor Day Weekend.
