Hands down, one of the best ways to spend an evening in Boulder is at Frasca Food and Wine. Much like its namesake (a quaint neighborhood in Friuli, Italy), Frasca is both friendly and elegant, offering guests a uniquely authentic dining experience. Every Tuesday through Saturday, they offer the very best of the cuisine of Friuli-Venezia Guilia. Meals are always simple and delicious, and the wine selection is something you have to see (and taste) to believe. If you’re looking to take it just a step further, though, check out one of Frasca’s upcoming wine events:
Istituto Frasca Per Il Vino
The Istituto Frasca Per Il Vino is a series of wine classes hosted by Frasca’s owner and Master Sommelier, Bobby Stuckey. Each session is a two-hour intensive course on a particular region and wine style. Your $255 fee for the class covers your workbook (which you will take home with you), your wine, tax, and gratuity. All you need to do is show up and enjoy.
All Istituto classes run from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, and they are held in Frasca’s private Taverna Room. The current offering is Istituto Frasca Per Il Vino: The Islands (Corsica + Sicily), and you have three dates to choose from: February 16th, 17th, and 18th. You’re cutting it just a bit close, but it’s worth giving them a ring to see if there is room for one more.
In April, there will be another Istituto class, offering up wine education and wine tasting in equal measure. This time, you’ll be learning about the wines of the Loire Valley. The dates for Instituto Frasca Per Il Vino: Loire Valley are April 12th, 13th, and 14th. Keep in mind that this is the series’ third year running, and it has become a very popular annual event in Boulder. Seats are going to go quickly.

Monday Night Wine Dinner Series
The Monday night dinner series happening from 5:30pm to 9:30pm every week at Frasca is such a treat. This is your chance to enjoy an out-of-this-world four-course meal alongside renowned wine experts hand selected by Bobby himself.
Sangiovese with Volio Vino
An all-red flight will be served on February 15. Take advantage of the opportunity to sample a Sagiovese from each of the grape’s classic production zones: Chianti Classico, Montepulciano, and Montalcino. The guest for the evening will be Charlie Humphreys of Volio Vino, a man whose wine expertise and reputation for fun and enthusiasm precedes him.
Le Due Terre with Mike Joyce
On February 22, catch Mike Joyce, of Natural Wine Company and a selection of wines from La Due Terre of Friuli, Italy. This winery is touted as Friuli’s best producer of Pinot Noir, making this a Monday night dinner you don’t want to miss.
Artadi with Carlos Lopez de Lacalle
The makers of Artadi wines have experienced big changes in recent months, and they are coming to Frasca to tell us all about it. On February 29, Carlos Lopez de Lacalle will be speaking with guests about why his family made the decision to leave the alliance of winegrowers in their region, as well as their future plans for Artadi.
If these events don’t suit your schedule, don’t fret. The team at Frasca is constantly coming up with new and exciting ways for us to experience the Friulano culture they hold so dear. Keep an eye on their events schedule (or scroll to the bottom of the page to subscribe to their newsletter).
