Our city offers a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to celebrate Independence Day and spend time enjoying this lovely summertime weather. Here are the events we’re most looking forward to this 4th of July.
Four on the 4th 4K
When: 7/4, 9:00 am
Where: Avery Brewing Co.
Nothing is more Boulder than a celebratory foot race that finishes with a beer. Avery Brewing Co. in Gunbarrel will host a road race that is equal parts exercise and fun. Race registration includes a tasty breakfast and beer at the finish line, a tech tee, and bragging rights. Meet the neighbors and partake in some friendly competition this Independence Day.
Boulder Concert Band on the Green
When: 7/4, 11:00 am
Where: Chautauqua Green
A free, outdoor concert in the shadow of Boulder’s stunning Flatirons showcases the best that our city has to offer. The Boulder Concert Band is one of our town’s longest tenured bands, with recordings of performances dating back to 1870. This year’s event features talented U.S. Army conductor Colonel Thomas Palmatier and will no doubt be an unforgettable outdoor concert. Hike Boulder’s beloved Chautauqua Trailhead and catch this mid-day concert for a memorable 4th of July.
Sparkle Independence Day
When: 7/4 & 7/6, 11:00 am – late afternoon
Where: Bliss Boulder
This quirky Pearl Street shop is a favorite among locals and visitors. To celebrate Independence Day, Bliss is teaming up with Colorado Fairy Hair to offer Finklepott’s Fairy Hair appointments throughout the day. For an added sparkle or patriotic flair, add some Finklepott’s Fairy Hair to your regular do. It’s a fun way to show national pride and spice up your usual aesthetic.
4th of July Twang-Fest & Barbeque
When: 7/4, 12:00 – 5:00 pm
Where: The Gold Hill Inn
In keeping with tradition, this historic Gold Hill institution will host its lively and delicious 4th of July celebration. Talented musicians are set to perform throughout the day and tasty barbeque will be served. Get out of downtown Boulder for the day and experience this charming mining town with a most authentic get down.
Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast
When: 7/4, 8:30 pm
Where: Folsom Field
Nothing beats this widely-loved gathering at CU Boulder. Since 1941, crowds of Boulderites have gathered in the stands to join Ralphie, the CU Buffalo mascot, in 4th of July events, capped off with an epic firework show at 9:30 pm. Grab a bite to eat on Pearl Street then catch the free shuttle from 29th Street to enjoy an easy, family-friendly 4th.
Spend the holiday exploring Boulder’s great outdoors, dancing to spirited live music, and sampling some mouth-watering barbeque. No matter how you want to celebrate our nation’s independence, Boulder’s got something for everyone.
