The end of summertime also means the celebration of one of our country’s best loved occasions— Labor Day. This holiday offers the perfect chance to get outside and take advantage of all Boulder has to offer. Throughout the weekend, our city boasts a variety of parades, outdoor festivals, concerts, and more. Here are some of the best ways to spend this Labor Day around Boulder. 

Boulder Creek Hometown Festival

When: 8/31 – 9/2

Where: Central Park Commons and surrounding area

Now in its 21st year, the Boulder Creek Hometown Festival is one of our town’s most anticipated Labor Day events. The Hometown Fest hosts a bevy of exciting and eccentric events, including food trucks, live music, a classic carnival, and even a zucchini race. Participate in outdoor activities all weekend long to celebrate this authentically American holiday. 

REI Workshop at Rayback Collective

When: 8/31, 9:30 – 11:30 am

Where: Rayback Collective

Outdoor enthusiasts will love this hands-on event hosted by REI. Take an in-depth look at a variety of camping water filtration systems and stoves during this demonstration. Nothing says Colorado quite like an afternoon spent sipping craft beer and learning about backcountry equipment. Prepare for next year’s camping season at this engaging community event. 

Avery Patio Jam

When: 8/31, 4:30 – 8:00 pm

Where: Avery Brewing Co. 

Some of the best craft brew in the country is made right in Boulder. Avery Brewing Co., located in Gunbarrel, offers over 30 beers on tap. This Labor Day, the renowned and locally loved brewery will host live music on its extended patio. Take in sweeping views of the Rockies and high plains while listening to local grounds like Jack Cloonan Band and The Drunken Hearts

Rocky Mountain Beer Festival

When: 9/2, 1:00 – 6:00 pm

Where: 13th and Canyon Blvd.

This traveling beer festival brings craft beverages to the Rocky Mountain region in a series of festivals taking place throughout the summer. Fortunately for Boulderites, Rocky Mountain Beer Fest is gearing up to host its lively event in the heart of downtown Boulder. Sip a locally made beer, play lawn games, and listen to live music from local artists. 

Louisville Labor Day Parade

When: 9/2, 9:00 am

Where: Main and Walnut Street, downtown Louisville

Now in its 84th year, this much anticipated Labor Day Parade offers a variety of activities all weekend long. Just a short drive from Boulder, Louisville’s bustling downtown attracts locals and tourists alike for its largest event of the year – the Labor Day Parade. Included in this annual tradition is a children’s pet parade, a pancake breakfast, and a pie baking contest. Explore the neighboring historic town of Louisville at this fun community parade.
