About Brett Zimmerman, Master Sommelier
Brett Zimmerman has been the owner of Boulder Wine Merchant since 2010. A Colorado native, Brett began his career in wine while working in restaurants including Boulder’s Laudisio. Following graduation from the University of Colorado, he accepted the position of sommelier at the acclaimed Charlie Trotter’s of Chicago and participated in a wine program to hone his craft with Master Sommeliers. He also served as sommelier for San Francisco-based Aqua before opening his own restaurant, Mateo, in Boulder. Although he attributes his career in restaurants to sparking his interest in wine, he ultimately decided to leave the restaurant business and pursue his passion to become a Master Sommelier. In 2007, after years of rigorous study, he passed the Masters Examination to become one of less than 300 Master Sommeliers in the world. This prestigious background allows him to provide an exceptional experience to the patrons of Boulder Wine Merchant.
