Open Space and Mountain Parks
Boulder is known for its natural beauty, but preserving and maintaining the land requires a lot of hard work. Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) is dedicated to providing our city and all its inhabitants with programs, projects, and events that protect the natural environment and land resources. This division always needs volunteers, and you can sign up for a one-day project or ongoing volunteer opportunities. Registration is open here.
Adopt-a-Spot
If you’re looking for an ongoing way to volunteer, consider Adopt-a-Spot. Through this program, you (or the organization you represent) can adopt a median, multi-use path, roadway, transit stop, or pocket park for an entire year. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to city beautification and maintenance directly, and you can work individually or with a group. When you Adopt-a-Spot, it’s up to you to set your schedule. The City of Boulder recommends visiting the site at least once per month to remove debris, weed, prune, and report any issues.
Humane Society of Boulder Valley
Do you have a soft spot for pets? The Humane Society of Boulder Valley would love your help! Volunteers are critical for keeping the shelter running smoothly and providing adequate animal care and love. Come prepared for hands-on work, such as kennel cleaning, laundry, dishes, and organizing. Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age. If you’re interested in fostering a pet, this is the perfect time of year to try it! You can learn more about becoming a foster here.
Count Me In
Looking for an easy way to explore volunteer opportunities throughout the City of Boulder? Head over to Count Me In: Volunteer Cooperative. This is a one-stop shop for discovering organizations in need and signing up to donate your time. Departments seeking volunteers through Count Me In include Communications and Engagement, Climate Initiatives, Housing and Human Services, OSMP, Parks and Recreation, and Public Works.
