CU Boulder is an important part of our community, and brings exciting and enriching events each year. This April, the Conference on World Affairs (CWA) is coming to Boulder. This four-day gathering is described by the New York Times as “a weeklong extravaganza of discussion and debate,” and will feature a plethora of top-tier speakers. Interested in attending? About CWA
Although CWA features the best and brightest from academia and beyond, this event isn’t just for academics. All members of the community are invited to join, and each discussion is completely free to attend. The mission of CWA is to be a vehicle for open, multi-faceted, and balanced discussion of current challenging issues. During the four days of events, interdisciplinary discourse will take place, resulting in intellectual diversity and robust solutions.
When and Where
The Conference on World Affairs will take place from April 9-12 at various venues across CU Boulder. The opening keynote is kicking off at 5pm on April 9th at Macky Auditorium. The keynote speaker is none other than the founding editor of The Onion, Scott Dikkers. The keynote is sure to be an enlightening (and hilarious) exploration of social commentary and the world of media. Titled “The Funny Story Behind the Funny Stories,” the opening discussion will start the conference off with some levity, along with excellent insights.
The rest of the schedule will feature topics ranging from the biggest threats to humanity to how emerging technologies may change what it means to be human–and beyond. There are thought-provoking and engaging topics to appeal to any interest, and I hope you’ll attend at least one of the discussions during CWA. CU Boulder does incredible work for our community, and I’m especially looking forward to the Conference on World Affairs. There are many sobering realities facing our world right now, and this event will provide an opportunity to come together as we begin to think about a path forward.
