The start of a new year brings feelings of excitement and anticipation of what is to come, and turning a new page in our lives also means that we have an opportunity for a fresh start. In light of that sense of renewal, many of us resolve to make positive changes in our lives over the following twelve months. Not surprisingly, the majority of these changes have to do with physical health. Some of the most common resolutions include losing weight, getting more exercise, and eating healthier.
Those are all awesome goals to have, but there’s a catch. Resolutions are useless, unless you stick to them. Fortunately, living in Boulder makes it easy to follow through on the goals you have set for yourself.
As you know, I’m a huge fan of Conscious Cleanse, which will definitely help you achieve a healthy weight. The next live cleanse is happening in April, so be sure to register before then if you plan to participate. If a juice cleanse is more your style, check out the Wonder Press menu. There, you’ll not only find fresh and delicious cold-pressed juices, but there are also two cleanse packages to choose from.
Get More Exercise
“More exercise” can come in so many different forms. When you live in paradise (like we do), it makes the most sense to spend your active hours outdoors. If you want to try something new, consider giving cycling a shot. Boulder Cycle Sport and YogaGlo have teamed up to offer a cycling program open to all ability levels. It sounds like the perfect activity to get you started on the right foot as we move into a new year.
If you would prefer to try something indoors, Element 6 is a great place to start. Its “functional fitness” offerings include Crossfit, Yoga, and Martial Arts, all designed to radically transform your life. Appointments can be conveniently scheduled online, or call the studio at 720 989-1513 to learn more.
You can also give Summer Jessee, owner of Luv Pilates, a shout at 720-470-3609 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. She’ll set you up with private pilates instruction and share techniques that you will use for years to come.
There is no better place for healthy eating than Boulder, Colorado. Some of the most popular eateries around town are also the healthiest. Blooming Beets, for instance, serves up nothing but good-for-you dishes created from entirely organic and mostly local ingredients. Leaf offers locally sourced farm-to-table vegetarian, vegan, and raw cuisine. If gluten-free is more your flavor, give Fresh Thymes Eatery a try. You may also like Zeal, which is not only a great choice for gluten-free diets, but healthy eating, in general.
These options make it easy to choose wisely, and that’s really the key to success in anything you do. Set yourself up for the best by surrounding yourself with the right things. Set realistic goals, rather than the unattainable New Year’s resolutions that we hear about all too often. Take advantage of where you live and everything this community has to offer, and make 2016 your best year ever.
