September is here, which means the return of school, football games, and fall colors. As you settle back into your routine, take time to enjoy the last of the summer weather at some of the many fun events going on around town. Here’s what we’re looking forward to this month:
Boulder Creek Hometown Festival
When: September 3 – 5, 1:00-6:00 p.m.
Where: Central Park, downtown Boulder
We can’t think of a better way to close out the summer than by spending the day in downtown Boulder with live music and entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, plenty of food and beer, a 5K fun run down the Boulder Creek Path, and a Sports & Kids Expo, complete with a climbing wall, bungee trampoline, and zip line!
Film on the Rocks
When: Tuesday, September 6, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Red Rocks Amphitheater
The 17th season of Film on the Rocks concludes with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Get there early to catch a live concert and local comedy act before the movie starts at dusk.
Dairy Arts Center Third Thursdays
When: Thursday, September 15 (every third Thursday of the month)
Where: Dairy Arts Center (2590 Walnut Street)
Relax and enjoy light jazz and conversation at the Dairy Arts Center’s Third Thursday programming. Meet in the center’s MacMillian Lobby on the third Thursday of every month for music, food and drink specials, and surprises! On Thursday, September 15, Colorado legendary jazz musician Lannie Garrett will play a selection called “Under Paris Skies.”
Dog Dayz
When: Monday, September 19 – Sunday, October 2
Where: Scott Carpenter Pool (1505 30th Street)
For two weeks every September and October, Scott Carpenter Pool closes for human use and transforms into an aquatic dog park. Dogs can swim, splash, jump, and dive to their heart’s content. This is one of our favorite ways to spend a hot afternoon with our best friends.
Adventure Film Festival
When: Thursday, September 29-Saturday, October 1
Where: Boulder Theater (2032 14th Street)
Surround yourself with stories of passion, action, exploration, and activism at the 12th Annual Adventure Film Festival, featuring some of the year’s best independent films. If you’re a budding adventure filmmaker yourself, sign up for the two-day Adventure Filmmaker’s Workshop, where you’ll learn from accomplished filmmakers and even have the opportunity to create your own film during the festival.
When: Friday, September 16-Sunday, September 18
Where: Pearl Street Mall
Live music and handmade goods from more than 100 artisans make the 29th Annual Downtown Boulder Fall Fest one of Boulder’s favorite ways to kick off the new season. Plus, it’s never too early to start your holiday shopping.;)
