As the holiday season reaches late December, Boulder’s foodie roots really show themselves. With family and friends in town, locals and visitors alike frequent our city’s best restaurants, sampling the many different cuisines offered. Though some restaurants close for Christmas, many do not. So, if you prefer a break from the cooking, or simply want to get out of the house, check out our list of Boulder restaurants open for either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day (or both).
Opened by Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey and Chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson, Frasca Food & Wine is Boulder’s go-to for fine Italian cuisine. This Christmas Eve, Frasca is hosting a traditional Italian American seafood feast. With 6 courses, this “Feast of the Seven Fishes” is sure to be decadent and delicious.
Since 1967, the Greenbriar Inn has offered elegant food in the beautiful countryside of North Boulder. This year, they will offer a Christmas Eve feast from 4:30-8pm. All the traditional holiday entrees and desserts will be offered in a serene wintertime setting.
Hapa is a longtime Boulder standout for great sushi. Their approach takes traditional Japanese techniques and blends them with an American style to create a unique and delectable spin on sushi. Hapa will be open for Christmas Eve.
For some fantastic spicy food, head to Jaipur Indian. Just one block south of Pearl, this staple offers traditional fine Indian cuisine complete with vegan, gluten-free, and Halal meat options. They offer both buffet and a-la-carte ordering, and will be open for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
With a focus on fresh and sustainable seafood, Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar is consistently voted into the Best of Boulder awards. From Sriracha Fried Oysters to King Crab to Israeli Osetra Caviar, this restaurant is sure to please seafood lovers. Jax will be open from 4-8:30pm on Christmas Eve.
Jill’s Restaurant & Bistro at the St Julien
Jill’s Restaurant & Bistro offers contemporary American food with a French twist. They promote organic farming practices in all their food, and offer a variety of vegan dishes. Jill’s will offer a candlelight dinner on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as a Christmas Day Brunch.
This American bistro is devoted to sourcing quality food from American farmers, and serving beautiful dishes in a relaxed, family-friendly environment. They will be open from 12-8pm on Christmas Eve.
Offering an innovative combination of French and Asian cuisine, L’Atelier is a premier foodie location in Boulder. The restaurant emphasizes farm-to-table practices, and is happy to accommodate special diets. They are open from 4-9pm on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
With a focus on seasonal, fresh food, Spruce Farm & Fish is a perfect representation of Boulder’s bustling culinary scene. From pasta to seafood to steak, this restaurant is sure to offer an interesting take on a Christmas meal. Spruce will be offering a dinner service on Christmas day.
