This new year, there’s no better way to celebrate our community and honor our neighbors than by volunteering your time. Boulder has numerous organizations that focus on taking care of the people, places, and animals that make our Front Range neighborhood so wonderful. Here are some ways to get involved in the new year.
The Boulder Shelter for the Homeless
This caring group has long provided invaluable services for our homeless community. During Colorado’s cold winter months, The Boulder Shelter for the Homeless offers warm beds and a safe place to sleep. It is always in need of volunteers to help cook, clean, and take care of guests at the shelter. Find the volunteer opportunity that works for you here.
Humane Society of Boulder Valley
Our furry friends are treated well and taken good care of at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Volunteers may spend their holiday walking, feeding, and playing with the dogs and cats that find shelter at this caring facility. Spread joy by signing up to walk a four-legged friend, here.
There With Care
The holidays can be an extremely difficult time for families with children battling life threatening illnesses. There With Care provides support in the form of transportation, meals, sibling companionship, and more in order to ease the burden of daily life during medical crises. This new year, bring happiness to families with sick children by volunteering at There With Care.
Boulder Mountainbike Alliance
If you’re a fan of Boulder’s great outdoors, give back by spending your time with this awesome, adventurous group. The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance invites bikers of all levels and skill sets to help with trail maintenance, guide rides, work events, host clinics, and so much more. This winter, it needs help with social media posts and other support communications that will spread its message and mission. Learn more here!
Meals on Wheels of Boulder
A home cooked meal is a luxury that we often take for granted. Some members of our community are unable to make healthy and nourishing meals for themselves or their family members, but still desire to live independently. Meals on Wheels of Boulder has been serving our community since 1969, taking great care of the elderly and disabled throughout Boulder County. Sign up to be a part of this compassionate team here.
It’s easy to get wrapped up in the fun and lively atmosphere surrounding the new year. However, we may also resolve to share our time and talents with the members of our community who need it most. Help brighten this beautiful corner of our world by volunteering with any of these meaningful organizations.
