Experience Boulder’s array of autumn colors throughout its historic neighborhoods and downtown district, or participate in a variety of cultural activities near Pearl Street. Regardless of your interests, there’s something for all passions and intrigues! Here are some of our favorite October happenings in and around Boulder.
Adriana Corral: Unearthed/Desenterrado
When: 10/3 – 1/19
Where: Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art
Join guest curator Courtney Lane Stell as she presents works from Texas-based artist, Adriana Corral. Through installations, sculptures, and performances, Corral examines human rights and the historic violation of these rights. The foundation for much of Corral’s work is based on information from anthropologists, journalists, human-rights advocates, and more. Don’t miss this intimate look at the human experience as depicted through Corral’s lens.
Flatirons Food Film Festival
When: 10/10 – 13, various times
Where: various locations
Since 2012, Boulder’s Flatirons Food Film Festival has united the culinary and film communities by presenting movies that focus on the dynamic and evolving food industry. From cultural examinations on cuisine to political documentaries to scientific compositions, this festival dives into all things food related. TEDxBoulder: Pride & Prejudice
When: 10/19, time TBD
Where: Macky Auditorium
Earlier in June, TEDxBoulder hosted a successful and engaging event that featured speakers from a variety of backgrounds and beliefs. This October, the Boulder organization is once again bringing together an intellectual, talented group to share stories and insights with our community under the umbrella “Pride & Prejudice”. Musicians, scholars, journalists, and more will share personal thoughts, sentiments, and beliefs that relate to this theme. Learn more about the speakers or buy tickets here.
Moving to End Sexual Assault (MESA) – Brave, Bold, & Beautiful
When: 10/23, 5:30 – 8:30 pm
Where: The Dairy
This annual event seeks to honor survivors of sexual assault and celebrate their bravery, courage, and hope. All proceeds go to Boulder County’s rape crisis center, MESA. As the area’s only rape crisis center, its services, like the 24-hour hotline and victim advocacy, are essential in promoting education, health, and safety throughout our diverse community. The event includes food, drink, live music, and an auction.
Boulder Burgundy Festival
When: 10/31 – 11/3, various times
Where: downtown Boulder
Nothing beats a hearty, soul-warming glass of wine on a crisp fall evening. Boulder’s annual Burgundy festival takes place at various downtown locations and includes wine tastings, pairing dinners, and more. This year’s festival features wine-maker Jean-Marc Roulot, who will also host the festival’s marquee dinner at Frasca Food & Wine. Sip delicious wines from this acclaimed appellation or reserve a table at any of these fantastic events.
October boasts a bevy of culturally and socially significant events occurring throughout our vibrant city.
