
Winter may be coming, but it’s still fall for now! Whether you’re strolling the art district in North Boulder or jogging the streets of Louisville, it’s a great month to take advantage of the many outdoor activities happening around town before the cold weather sets in. Here’s what’s on our calendars for November:NoBo First Friday
When: Friday, November 4, 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Where: Along Broadway from Pine Street to Highway 36
Support local artists and small businesses right in your own neighborhood! On the first Friday of every month, artists and creative businesses in the North Boulder (NoBo) Art District open their doors to community members to explore their studios and galleries. In addition to meeting the painters, sculptors, photographers, designers, and other artists, you can also enjoy the many live music performances, demos, and special activities taking place along Broadway.
Super Science Saturday at NCAR
When: Saturday, November 5, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Where: National Center for Atmospheric Research Mesa Lab (1850 Table Mesa)
NCAR’s annual day of science exploration brings together both kids and adults for a fun, hands-on event. Themed Our Changing Climate!, this year’s Super Science Saturday will feature science shows, demos from the NCAR 3D visualization lab, NCAR wizards showcase, and more.
Schiff Dance Collective Winter Showcase
When: Saturday, November 12, 7:30 p.m.
Where: The Gordon Gamm Theater, The Dairy Center for the Arts
The talented members of the Schiff Dance Collective and Training Companies will perform segments of its upcoming work with amazing guest artists. Be sure to check out the silent auction in the lobby featuring art from local artists. You’ll have the chance to snag something special for yourself, and your proceeds will benefit Schiff Dance programming.
Shark’s Ink Closing Reception & Artist Talk
When: Tuesday, November 15, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Where: Macky Auditorium, 1595 Pleasant Avenue
As the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art’s Shark’s Ink exhibition comes to a close, come hear featured artist Bud Shark as he joins exhibiting artists Teresa Booth Brown and Evan Colbert for a reception and discussion.
Thoroughly Modern Millie
When: Saturday, November 19, 2016 through Saturday, February 25, 2017
Where: Boulder Dinner Theater
Transport yourself back to 1922, the height of the Jazz Age in New York City, with a rousing performance of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Sit back and let the spirited Boulder Dinner Theater staff serve you delicious food and drink while getting into character.
When: Thursday, November 24, 9:00 a.m.
Where: Louisville Public Library (951 Spruce Street, Louisville)
Before the many rounds of delicious Thanksgiving foods begin, join thousands of runners in downtown Louisville for a brisk 5K to kick off the day. Thanks to Project Louisville and a number of local businesses, the race is free to all runners who bring a donation of canned food and/or winter clothing to benefit those in need.
When: November 26 – December 24
Where: Ellie Caulkins Opera House
Colorado Ballet’s captivating presentation of The Nutcracker remains the ‘gold standard’ because it is the largest production of the holiday favorite in Colorado. This larger-than-life holiday tradition continues to be as popular as ever, with nearly all performances sold out in 2015 and 2014.
