Our #MyBoulderSummer series is highlighting the innovators in various Boulder industries. This week, we’re shining a spotlight on those who are changing the way we think about fashion and beauty in Boulder, Colorado.
Sisters Christy and Poss Lambert grew up watching their parents work in the mercantile industry. As big box stores made shopping less personal, their parents continued to build strong relationships throughout the community. Now adults, the sisters have created a store that offers a wide variety of goods and a space to get to know your neighbors. Together they opened Cedar and Hyde in 2013 with the goal of offering the curiosities for body and home in the same manner that their parents did years ago. The store features a carefully curated selection of crafts from local artisans like Salilah Moore and Little Mamas by Laura Morningstar. Cedar and Hyde is more than a store; it’s a place that invites you in, asks you to spend some time, get to know the staff and other customers, and leave with something that tells a story.
Max Martinez and Holly Kabacoff
Max Martinez created MAX Clothing in Downtown Denver in 1985. Max envisioned a store where customers could indulge in the opulent creations of high-fashion designers, along the lines of Barney’s and Maxfield Parish. MAX Clothing is a must-see for those who have moved from the coasts and are looking for their luxury goods. There are locations in Boulder, Aspen, and Cherry Creek. Max has also taken the Colorado fashion scene to the next level by wooing internationally-acclaimed designers to host fashion shows for charity hosted by MAX Clothing.
Boulder store manager Holly Kabacoff and the rest of the Boulder staff have made the location so much more than a clothing store. She and her team believe in true concierge service and build lasting relationships with their customers. MAX ships out of state and will call clients when an item arrives that’s a perfect fit.
