Mother’s Day is quickly approaching! Want to treat Mom to something she really wants on May 14? I have some inspiration for you – straight from the source! To take the guesswork out of the equation, I reached out to a few of my mom pals for insight on what they’d choose for themselves. While it’s the thought that counts, here are some ideas to help you hit it out of the park this Mother’s Day:
A Date Night
Whether your household is immersed in the (joyful) whirlwind of babies and toddlers or you’re empty nesters, there’s one thing that moms of all ages and stages will appreciate: a date night with their partner or someone special. There are a ton of options in Boulder that make for a great date, but a few spots stand out for the ladies I talked with. Here are some destinations that are sure to make for a memorable evening:
- Top Choice: The Kitchen (Upstairs)
- Runner Up: Frasca. I personally love the bar at Frasca because it doesn’t feel so formal and you can always expect excellent food and service!
- Honorable Mention: Boulder Theater
Wish List Items
If you want to give Mom something special, there are a few wish list ideas that many of the ladies I surveyed have in common. Some are tangible items, while other gifts are more abstract (and hard to come by when you’re a busy mom). Here’s some inspo:
- A day to hike and enjoy spa treatments
- Some quiet time to read
- Surprise jewelry
- Eight hours of uninterrupted sleep–the ultimate luxury! I can guarantee that most moms will LOVE the opportunity to sleep in and wake up feeling refreshed.
Top Hiking Destinations
If the mom in your life would enjoy time to soak up Boulder’s glorious views, there are several awesome spots right here in town. My friends mentioned several different options, but these are the most popular results:
- Top Choice: Mt. Sanitas is the clear frontrunner.
- Runners Up: If you’re going for a pre-Mother’s Day treat and want to spend a couple of days of quality time together, explore Walker Ranch to Canyon Falls and/or Chautauqua.
- Honorable Mentions: The new Anemone trail loop and Gregory Canyon Trail to Flagstaff round out my list of the best places to hike with Mom in Boulder.
Best Spas For Treating Mom
As mentioned above, many moms have been dreaming of being treated to spa treatments. If you want to surprise her with a day of pampering at one of Boulder’s luxury spas, take a look at these ideas:
- Top Choice: The famous St Julien Spa.
- Runners Up: The Dragontree and Leah Nickie Advanced Aesthetics are other favorites (and owned by local moms!)
- Honorable Mentions: OPEX Element 6 (for acupuncture) and Alchemy (for facials).
Moms’ Favorite Jewelers in Boulder
Since surprise jewelry was a top wish list item, you may be curious about where to shop. If you want to keep it local, Boulder has great options! These jewelers were highlighted as favorites:
- Top Choice: Walters and Hogsett
- Runner Up: J Albrecht Designs
- Honorable Mentions: Todd Reed and Art and Soul (jewelry + art…say no more!)
Must-Have Beauty Products
It’s hard to go wrong with beauty or skincare products for Mother’s Day. That being said, it’s important to know what she actually likes before you buy. The moms have spoken! Here are a few of their must-have products:
- Biologique Recherche Lotion P50. Sani says that using Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 has done wonders as an exfoliant for her skin!
- Bee + Rose. You’ll find scrubs, sprays, candles, and bath soaks here. As a bonus, these products are made in Boulder!
- DRx SpectraLite FaceWear Pro by Dr. Dennis Gross. Erin says that this LED light mask helps keep her skin in check in between facials. It takes just three minutes a day, which is perfect for busy moms!
