Whether you’re thinking about listing your home and are searching for profitable upgrades or you simply like to keep an eye on the latest trends, you’ll want to read my series on what’s popular in luxury home trends. I’ll cover many areas of the home in this series, but I’m starting off with the heart of the home: the kitchen. Here’s a look at what’s in right now and what I’m seeing more of (and loving):
Flowing Curves
Curved lines are having their moment in the spotlight in 2023, and this aesthetic is spilling over into the kitchen, as well. There’s something calming about the absence of sharp lines, which can be fully appreciated in the main gathering area. If you’re intrigued by the idea of introducing chic, flowing lines, there are many ways to achieve this look. From curved archway windows to oval islands, this area of the home has many possibilities for ditching stark lines.
Bolder Colors
I don’t think pure white kitchens will ever go out of style, but if you’re a fan of maximalism or want to inject some color into your home, the kitchen is a great place to go bold. Individuality is really the name of the game right now, so don’t be afraid to introduce some drama to the kitchen through creative use of color and patterns.
Double Islands
When it comes to kitchen islands, less isn’t always more. The double islands trend is a fun one, because they can be both functional and stylish. This is another way you can add individuality to your home–I’ve seen islands that are mirror images of one another, while others are juxtaposed with different colors and materials. Either way, double the islands means twice the prep space and more room for seating.
A Spa-Like Setting
In the luxury market, we’re no stranger to rooms that feel like you’ve just stepped into a spa. Now, home designers are taking this a step further to include the kitchen. It makes sense–after all, most of us spend quite a bit of time in this area of the home, so it should feel relaxing. Look for more kitchens to include materials that evoke a spa-like experience, such as natural stone and calming lighting, as well as woods such as cedar, oak, and teak (and don’t forget the plants!).
I love keeping up with what’s “in” in home design, and I’m seeing some changes this year! Stay tuned for more posts to come in this series. I’ll be discussing more luxury home trends in the modern luxury market in the weeks ahead.
