Summer is in full swing and it seems as though Boulder is back to its usually busy self this year. We couldn’t be more excited and grateful to have live music, outdoor festivals, open-air markets, and smiling faces back in our beautiful town. Here’s what we’re adding to our calendars this July.
The Book of Will, Colorado Shakespeare Festival
When: 7/2 – 8/6, times vary
Where: Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre
Boulder’s annual Shakespeare Festival is an event you don’t want to miss. Throughout the summer, talented actors take the stage to perform some of The Bard’s most beloved tales. The Book of Will is slightly different from Shakespeare’s typical dramas, tragedies, and comedies. This play tells the story of the playwright, from his friends’ perspectives as they try to get his plays published after Will’s death.
BENOFF 2022
When: 7/14 – 7/16
Where: The Dairy Center for the Arts
Boulder Environmental / Nature Outdoor Film Festival will showcase six different films focused on various aspects of planet earth. From mountain lions to rivers, each piece offers an interesting glimpse at a well-known, but little understood, aspect of Mother Nature. By examining and unpacking the natural world, we can better comprehend how to conserve, protect, and sustain living entities beyond our own selves.
Arts in the Open: Family Theater Workshop
When: 7/17, 5:00pm
Where: Chautauqua Park
Arts in the Open celebrates two elements Boulderites can’t seem to get enough of – art and nature. This family theater workshop offers an exciting chance to play, act, laugh, and move with your kiddos and spark a love of performance art at the same time. No experience is required, just a desire to learn more about acting. Get your tickets, here.
50th Annual RockyGrass Festival
When: 7/29 – 31
Where: Planet Bluegrass, Lyons
This beloved bluegrass festival is back with a stellar line-up, activities, booze, and food. Each year, Colorado’s bluegrass fans flock to Planet BlueGrass, just outside of Lyons, Colorado in search of new acts, treasured tenured artists, and a chance to reconnect with their diverse, eclectic community. Families of all ages are welcome at this awesome outdoor festival. If you haven’t experienced RockyGrass yet, get this on your July itinerary.
Sofie Ramos: DEEP END
When: July, 2022
Where: BMoCA
This exhibit by renowned artist Sofie Ramos transforms found and forgotten household objects into colorful, whimsical works of art. Cluttercore enthusiasts will love Ramos’s exhibits at BMoCA. Wander into a world of bright, pop-art style collections of antique toasters, vintage lamps, desk-top fans, and so much more. DEEP END is a sensory overload in all the best ways.
July’s theme seems to be art and music in outdoor spaces and we couldn’t be happier. What great opportunities to get outdoors, pack a picnic, enjoy some music, theater, and art with our awesome community. See you there!
