As summer heats up in Boulder, you’ll find many entertaining and engaging events to attend in and around the city. In addition to the Independence Day weekend fireworks at Folsom Field and Art & JazzFest on Pearl Street Mall, residents and visitors can enjoy numerous other activities and shows all month long. Here is a list of local events you should check out in July:
IgniteBoulder 26
When: Thursday, July 2nd at 7pm
Where: Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder
The 26th IgniteBoulder event will take place at Chautauqua on the evening of July 2nd. Ignite is a community-based and volunteer-run organization, which hosts short but memorable nightly presentations and lectures on a variety of topics. Every show features several presenters who are given only 5 minutes to share their (often funny and geeky) stories or speeches. Tickets for this unique show are available online for $10 per attendee.
Color Me Rad 5K Denver
When: Saturday, July 11th at 9am
Where: Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield in Littleton
Color Me Rad 5K is a funky and fun race held in various cities across the nation, where participants get splashed with colorful paints and powders while they run. Denver’s Color Med Rad takes place this July 11th, starting at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield.

Morrissey at Red Rocks
When: Thursday, July 16th at 7pm
Where: Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison
In addition to fitness events and informative lectures, locals can also attend numerous concerts this summer. Legendary singer, lyricist, and musician Morrissey will be performing near Denver this month. On July 17th, audiences can enjoy his iconic voice and music at the stunning Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. General admission and reserved seating tickets are still available online, ranging from $45 to $90.
CMF Music Mash-Up: Copland + Bon Iver with SHEL
When: Tuesday, July 21st at 7:30pm
Where: Chautauqua Auditorium in Boulder
The Colorado Music Festival (CMF) is featuring a variety of orchestral concerts this season, from June 26th through August 9th. On July 21st, as part of its Music Mash-Up series, CMF is presenting a new composition by Steven Hackman at Chautauqua Auditorium. Fusing together the music of contemporary band Bon Iver with the works of famed composer Aaron Copland, Hackman’s mash-up will be performed by the Fort Collins-based group SHEL. Tickets are available now from $24 to $45 per seat.

TV on the Radio at Boulder Theater
When: Sunday, July 26th at 8pm
Where: Boulder Theater on 14th Street
The popular indie rock band TV on the Radio is also performing in town this July, live at Boulder Theater. Fans can expect an exciting show on the night of the 26th, featuring music from TVotR’s 2014 album, Seeds. Tickets are available in advance for $35, or at the door for $37.50.
