Join throngs of costumed plungers as they partake in a brisk welcome to the new year. Not only is this event good for the body, but proceeds go to benefit The American Cancer Society. Not swimming? There’s plenty to do for spectators. Food and beverage vendors are readily available to serve up delicious fare and hot drinks to warm you up while you watch.
Historic Designation of Boulder County Courthouse
When: 1/4 at 4:30pm

History happens every day here in Boulder, and we’re thankful that we often get to witness it firsthand. Head to the Boulder County Courthouse for the unveiling of a new plaque marking the building’s position on the National Registry of Historic Places. This building was a pivotal location in the struggle for equal rights for the LGBTQ community.

Support local artists and enjoy a stroll through the North Boulder neighborhood. This up and coming area features distinctive artists with fresh takes on classic practices. Brightly colored flags mark the ‘art walk’ and lead to studios of painters, sculptors, woodworkers and more. Bring your appetite – there are plenty of restaurants to stop in and have a bite.

This film outlines the life and work of Dr. Vasant Lad, the holistic healer who introduced the West to Ayurveda. From outside the limelight, this healthcare practitioner practiced and advocated for one of the oldest healthcare systems in the world. Boulderites can take this opportunity to see where Ayurveda started and how it came to be the benchmark for holistic healthcare in the U.S.

Opening Reception Matthew Pevear: Mastering the Art of French Cooking

Photographer Matthew Peaver brings his talents to Boulder this January in what is to be his first solo show in this region. Peaver’s photography provides a distinctive glimpse at ordinary objects through the artist’s perspective. His use of empty space and bright lighting gives viewers of his work both a sense of isolation and serenity.
The Second City’s Best of Second City

This improvisational comedy theater troupe will grace Boulder Theater with its one-of-a-kind sketch comedy show in January. Many comedic greats have passed through The Second City on their way to stardom – Steve Carrell, Tina Fey, Mike Meyers and more honed their talents on The Second City stage. You can bet this show will bring serious laughter to our mountain town.
