Despite COVID regulations for social distancing, Boulder offers plenty to do in the way of engaging activities that educate, inspire, and broaden horizons. Culinary enthusiasts, beginner at-home chefs, and foodies will delight in Food Lab’s virtual cooking classes and events. Here’s what we’re looking forward to.
Anytime Classes + Cooking Kits
Typically, Food Lab hosts in-person classes that focus on a certain cuisine or themed-evening. Now, to work with social distancing and COVID restrictions, it is offering classes anytime via pre-recorded video. Participants can pick up a cooking kit from Food Lab or request a shipment. Cooking kits come complete with everything home chefs would need to whip up the delicious meal, guided by Food Lab’s talented chefs.
Date Night In Paris

Open a bottle of Burgundy and enjoy delicacies like bone-in pork chop, salad lyonnaise, and gruyere dough rounds.
Moroccan Nights

Where: virtual
Guests may feel as if they are wandering through the bustling streets of Marrakech during Food Lab’s Morrocan Nights class. Each dish – including a mint salad, preserved lemon, chicken tagine, and more – is loaded with Middle Eastern spices and packed with flavor. Enjoy learning about another culture through its special cuisine during this virtual class.
Empanadas
When: 1/23, 6:00
Where: virtual
Learn how to make two different types of yummy empanadas during this evening class. What’s not to love about warm, flaky pastries filled with spiced meat and savory vegetables? Homemade empanadas are a great alternative to frozen grocery store options and turns out, they aren’t all that tricky to make. Food Lab’s expert chefs will guide guests through two renditions – a chicken and vegetarian option – then top it off with a bright chimichurri sauce.
Plant Based Thai
When: 1/30, 6:00
Where: virtual
Thai food is the perfect option for cold winter nights cozied up in doors. Learn how to make your own during this awesome, informative lesson. All plant based, this class first guides guests through whipping up a batch of herb-laden spring rolls with a hearty peanut sauce. Next, take on tofu lettuce wraps under the tutelage of your knowledgeable Food Lab chef. Finally, tackle a vegetable pad thai that can be made for one when you’re craving something fresh and healthy, or it can be scaled up for a dinner party, once it’s safe to gather again.
