As we roll into the New Year, Boulder events bring us another packed schedule. From concerts to a world-class sports event, January 2016 is definitely going to be a month to remember. With artists like Lupe Fiasco and Talib Kweli coming to town, as well as family-friendly dance performances at Macky Auditorium, there’s something for everyone to kick off 2016 in style.
Here’s a look at what we’re most looking forward to this January in Boulder:
Diavolo
Performing at Macky Auditorium, Diavolo takes place January 21st, and tickets are going fast. This event, described as “equal parts Cirque de Soleil, brilliant choreography and architecture in motion,” is sure to send your heart racing with excitement. Watch in amazement as acrobats fly around the stage. This death-defying act is full of unexpected jumps and flips at every turn. You’re sure to be impressed as props are brought into the act, and the whole show turns into a playground for some of the country’s top performers. Diavolo is definitely a can’t-miss event for the entire family.
X Games: Aspen
Taking place January 28th – 31st in Aspen, this year’s X Games will be celebrating its fifteenth anniversary. The games have a full slate of events on the schedule, all of which are sure to turn this iconic ski town into a party paradise for the weekend. In addition to extreme sports events like snowmobile slopestyle and the Big Air Final, the festival also boasts an impressive concert lineup. The entertainment includes shows by Nas/Run the Jewels, Twenty One Pilots, DJ Snake, DeadMau5, and KYGO. One of Colorado’s top festivals is right around the corner, and it’s looking quite promising.
Boulder Wedding Showcase
To round out January’s calendar of events, the 19th annual Boulder Wedding Showcase is sure to pique the interests of event planners and engaged couples alike. Taking place January 31st, Downtown Boulder will be the scene of dashing suits, beautiful dresses, and everything in between. The Rembrandt Yard Art Gallery & Event Center and the Boulder Theater are co-hosting this day of live music, wedding advice, and vendors to meet any of your needs. The relaxed atmosphere is ideal for soon-to-be married couples who need to consult with experts before their special day. Attendees will also have the chance to win $500 to be used at a showcase vendor of their choice, which makes the event even more exciting.
