Mother’s Day is approaching! If you’re seeking memorable ways to celebrate Mom or indulge yourself, you might enjoy some off-the-beaten-path experiences. Here are a few of my favorite local options that are quintessentially Boulder, yet less likely to be as crowded during holidays:
Izakaya Amu
Conveniently located on Spruce Street, Izakaya Amu is described as “tiny but twinkling.” It’s tucked next to a popular sushi spot, but don’t overlook this hidden gem: it’s a great place to enjoy an authentic experience. You can expect only the freshest ingredients and excellent service to make this day truly special.
Bramble & Hare
If you’re looking for fine dining that feels under the radar, you’ll want to check out Bramble & Hare. This new American bistro specializes in hyper-seasonal dishes from its garden, making it ideal for those who enjoy the farm-to-table experience. The atmosphere is perfect for an intimate lunch or dinner with a loved one.
Süti & Co.
Want to treat Mom to a great cup of coffee or tea? She’ll love Süti & Co, a stylish Scandinavian-style café and shop. This spot offers the best of both worlds, so you and Mom can relax while browsing the carefully curated selection of goods. The historic cottage off Pearl Street provides an ideal setting for quality time with your mom or mother figure. Word to the wise: don’t leave without trying a handmade shortbread cookie! All the pastries here are crafted with locally-milled flour.
Hike the Bobolink Trail
If you’re looking for an outdoor experience, you may be searching for something a little quieter than the well-known trails. The Bobolink trail in South Boulder tends to be less populated, and it offers picturesque views. There are no steep climbs here, but the open space is gorgeous. You can find all the parking information here.
Little Horse Vintage
Although it’s not technically in Boulder, Little Horse Vintage is a great place to slow down and shop for one-of-a-kind treasures. The Louisville location is an easy drive from town, and it’s usually not crowded here, so take your time and see what you can discover!
From coffee shops and restaurants to outdoor activities and shopping, Boulder offers plenty of ways to celebrate Mom. The ideas shared here are just a quick glimpse of what’s available in our town. No matter how you plan to honor the special woman in your life this Mother’s Day, I wish your family a wonderful day together. Here’s to taking the road less traveled and enjoying quality time!
