Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) is a cornerstone of our local art scene. If you’re unfamiliar with this museum, I highly encourage you to stop by and explore the exhibitions this summer.
BMoCA hosts local, regional, and international artists of all stripes and strives to amplify diverse voices and perspectives. The museum also provides the Boulder community with exceptional enrichment programs, making art more accessible for all. BMoCA is seeking federal funding to construct a new home in north Boulder and has submitted a request for $1.7 million to our Colorado senators. As you can imagine, funding allocation is highly competitive, and our senators need to know that Boulder residents support this use of funds. Interested in making your voice heard? Here’s what you can do:

SUBJECT: Support for Boulder Museum of Contemporary Arts’ FY25 CDS Request
Dear Helen, Donni, and Katie,
Please share my message below with the Colorado senators. Thank you.
Dear Senator Bennet and Senator Hickenlooper,
Thank you for advancing the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art’s (BMoCA) FY25 CDS request to the Senate Appropriations Committee. Construction of their new arts and cultural center in North Boulder would greatly benefit the entire community.
[Please include 2-3 sentences about what the BMoCA project would mean to you or your community, OR feel free to use the following boilerplate language:]
The new arts and cultural center will better support artists and creatives in the region, contribute to the region’s economic growth, and improve the neighborhood’s quality of life. By establishing its new facility across the street from one of Boulder’s most underserved communities, BMoCA will not only change the way the local community accesses arts, culture, and education but allow them to dramatically expand their existing beyond-the-walls services to underserved/LMI communities through the City. Lastly, the new arts and cultural center will facilitate the construction of up to 67 affordable by-design units and retail and commercial spaces.
I would sincerely appreciate any support you can extend to the Boulder Museum of Contemporary
Art’s FY25 funding request while they are under consideration by the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Thank you for considering my views.
Sincerely,
[SIGNATURE]

CHOOSE ONE:
- If selected, funds will be used to help construct a new arts and cultural center in North Boulder that will better support artists and creatives in the region as well as contribute to the economic growth of the region. By establishing its new facility across the street from one of Boulder’s most underserved communities, BMoCA will not only change the way the local community accesses arts, culture, and education but allow them to dramatically expand their existing beyond-the-walls services to underserved/LMI communities throughout the City.
- If selected, funds will be used to help construct a new arts and cultural center in
- North Boulder under the vision of empowering the community through art. The new space will better support artists and creatives in the region as well as contribute to the economic growth of the region, improve the quality of life of the neighborhood, and advance economic and social accessibility to the arts through new art education offerings, cultural experiences, and community programming. As the anchor for a creative campus, the new arts and cultural center will be surrounded by up to 67 affordable by-design housing units, retail and commercial spaces as well as live/workspaces.
- The site of BMoCA’s new home is directly across the street from one of Boulder’s most underserved communities. By establishing its new facility in North Boulder, BMoCA will not only change the way the local community can access arts, culture, and education by establishing an arts center immediately within their community, but the new facility will allow BMoCA to dramatically expand their existing beyond-the-walls services for underserved/LMI communities through the City.
I respectfully ask that the senator reinforce the importance of BMoCA’s request with the Senate Appropriations Committee to ensure they receive funding this year.
Thank you for considering my views.
Contacting our elected representatives can initially feel daunting, but it only takes a few minutes and can make a real difference in our community. The next step of the process will determine if and how much federal funding BMoCA will receive. This is an exciting opportunity for Boulder, and I hope each of you will consider showing your support. Great things are on the horizon for the Boulder arts community!
