Independence Day is just around the corner, and Boulder has plenty of ways to celebrate. Whether you want to catch a patriotic show or enjoy the long weekend filled with festivities, there’s something for everyone. Here, I share the upcoming events for the Fourth of July weekend:
July Fourth Concert With Boulder Symphony
When: 7/4
Where: 1212 Canyon Blvd.
A performance by the Boulder Symphony is always a treat, and the July Fourth concert is guaranteed to be a hit. This concert is part of the Arts in the Park series and will take place at the historic Boulder Bandshell located at 1212 Canyon Boulevard. This is a family-friendly event, welcoming attendees of all ages. The concert begins at 7:00 pm and will feature a diverse selection of symphonic and cinematic classics performed by the symphony. Food trucks and beverages will be available on-site for purchase. Grab your tickets now, as this event has sold out for the last four years!
Phish at Folsom Field
When: 7/3-7/5
Where: Folsom Field
Phish fans won’t want to miss the iconic jam band’s performance at Folsom Field during Fourth of July weekend. This event will take place rain or shine on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th, starting at 7:30. Cool Off at Boulder Reservoir
When: Anytime!
Where: Boulder Reservoir
Looking for a way to enjoy the holiday? You can’t go wrong with a day out on the water at Boulder Reservoir. This classic hangout spot is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or picnicking, and the swimming area is open from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm. Bring a lunch and a lawn chair, and you’ll be all set for an unforgettable day!
Fireworks in Erie
When: 7/3
Where: Erie Community Park
Although Boulder isn’t hosting fireworks shows, several nearby towns are putting on fireworks displays. Erie is a nearby choice that will host a fireworks show on Thursday, July 3rd, at Erie Community Park. This free, family-friendly event starts at 6:00 pm, and a great selection of vendors and food trucks will be on site for your enjoyment. At 9:00 pm, fireworks will be launched from the rooftop of the Erie Community Center.
First Friday Art Walk
When: 7/4
Where: NoBo District
The First Friday Art Walk in Boulder’s vibrant NoBo Art District is set to get extra festive this Fourth of July, running from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on July 4, 2025. This free, self-guided evening stroll along North Broadway offers a lively mix of open artist studios, gallery exhibitions, live music, food trucks, and refreshments—perfect for soaking up summer creativity under the stars. It’s a uniquely engaging way to celebrate: combining art, community, music, and delicious food in a festive, neighborhood block-party atmosphere that feels both local and celebratory. Colorado Shakespeare Festival
When: 7/5 (and additional dates throughout the month)
Where: Roe Green Theatre
If you’re a fan of local theatre, you won’t want to miss the annual Colorado Shakespeare Festival by CU Presents. This series runs throughout the summer, and while performances of The Tempest have already passed, Richard II is just getting started. This play kicks off on July 5th and will continue on select dates throughout July and August. Tickets are available now.
Fourth of July Celebration in Louisville

Where: Coal Creek Golf Course in Louisville
If you’re willing to make the quick trip to Louisville, join the Fourth of July celebration at the Coal Creek Golf Course. The event kicks off with food and festivities at 6:00 pm and concludes with a spectacular fireworks finale.
