Boulder’s Food Lab is one-of-a-kind. This locally-owned cooking school fosters community connection through a host of culinary experiences. From cooking classes to private events, its mission is simple: “Gather, cook, learn, and eat.” This autumn, find a Food Lab class that intrigues your inner chef and reserve a seat at the table. Here are a few classes we’re looking forward to:
Japanese Small Plates
When: 9/12
What sets Food Lab apart is its numerous classes featuring worldwide cuisine. During this Japanese Small Plates class, guests will learn the fundamentals of Japanese cooking and foundational flavors. Gain the skills and knowledge to treat and cook tofu properly, prepare a tasty miso soup from scratch, and make perfectly fluffy Okonomiyaki, a savory pancake. Sign up for this special class here.
Plant-Based Indian
When: 9/18
For vegetarians and vegans looking to add interesting recipes to their arsenals, look no further than Food Lab’s Plant-Based Indian class. Learn how to whip up a sweet, flavorful peach-mint chutney you’ll want to slather on everything and level-up your rice game to include a raisin-and-cashew Biryani that pairs well with many vegetarian mains. You’ll be able to take the fundamentals of Indian cooking and turn many of your go-to recipes into flavorful, new dishes.
Fresh Pasta Workshop
When: 9/21
Say arrivederci to sweet summertime and welcome cooling weather, longer nights, and more excuses to cozy up around the kitchen table with a hearty bowl of pasta and a glass of wine. Food Lab’s Fresh Pasta Workshop takes all the guesswork out of scratch-making your linguini, and turns this seemingly tedious task into a lively lesson you’ll want to recreate at home. In addition to making fresh pasta dough, this class invites guests to whip up a lemon fig ricotta that is too easy to eat right out of the bowl sans noodles. Purchase your tickets here.
Sunday Morning Brunch
When: 9/24
To many of us, Sunday Morning Brunch is sacred. It brings our families and friends together over a shared meal, allowing us to push pause and reconnect. Food Lab’s Sunday Morning Brunch class takes this weekly meal to the next level by teaching guests to elevate simple recipes like avocado toast and waffles with a few more ingredients. Better yet, this class is designed for participants 11 years old and up, meaning you could turn this class into a family celebration and encourage the kiddos to whip up next week’s midday meal.
Evening in Israel
When: 9/26
While we have a few authentic Israeli restaurants in Boulder, Colorado, knowing how to make your own gives you consistent access to comfort food that is decadent and healthy in every bite. Food Lab’s Evening in Israel class instructs participants on making fluffy chic-pea falafel, refreshing tzatziki, tabouli, and more. Don’t miss out on this class; get your tickets here.
For amateur at-home chefs and local foodies, these cooking classes open doors to culinary traditions and knowledge we might have never experienced. Anyone looking to level up their game in the kitchen will gain a functional understanding of food and make fun memories from any Food Lab class.
