Last year’s Film on the Rocks season followed a drive-in format due to COVID-19 restrictions. While this season won’t completely return to normal, the hybrid format of drive-in spots and open-air seating will allow additional movie fans to take in their favorite films in one of the country’s best venues. Here’s what to expect this summer from Film on the Rocks.
When and Where
Red Rocks Amphitheater is one of the country’s best known venues. Its beautiful geological formations create a natural amphitheater that captures sound and reverberates it throughout this large outdoor space. The City of Denver purchased the famed rock formation in 1927 and began construction in 1936. In 1941, it was open to the public, and since then, this city-owned theater has hosted internationally famous musicians, garnered global awards, and attracted millions of music lovers from around the world.
In addition to hosting fantastic musicians, each summer the beloved amphitheater hosts a movie series. Drive-in movies will take place at Lower South Lot 2 while in-person viewings will occur in the amphitheater. Drive-in films include Coca-Cola products, candy, and popcorn. Reserve a ticket early because these films always fill up fast.
