
February 2020 is cause for celebration as this year’s month of love gives us an extra day. When temperatures dip, as they often do mid-winter, our city provides a plethora of inspiring and engaging indoor activities. Here are a few upcoming events that we are especially looking forward to in February.
Oscar Party
When: 2/9, 5:00 pm
Where: The Dairy Arts Center
Don your finest attire and celebrate the 92nd Academy Awards at this elegant Boulder venue. This watch party will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, a glass of bubbly, popcorn, and dessert. Before the awards ceremony begins, guests may fill out ballots with their own Oscar predictions for a chance to win a Dairy Arts Center membership. YAW School Day-off Camp: Chaos and Control
When: 2/14, 9 am – 5 pm
Where: Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art
For children ages 5 – 12, this day-off camp provides a welcoming space where kids can foster their inner artists and express creativity in many forms. This camp focuses on Abstract Expressionism, – which involves all manner of splattering, dripping, and flinging…, the perfect painting style for little ones. Make their day off of school memorable with this interactive, all day camp.
Colorado Acro Fest
When: 2/14 – 2/16, times vary
Where: Boulder Circus Center
For beginner to experienced yogis, Colorado Acro Fest is a welcoming space in which those curious about the more acrobatic side of yoga can learn new skills. This three-day event consists of a wide variety of lessons led by skilled teachers who have traveled to this event from Montreal, Oregon, Detroit, and more. Experience acroyoga in a safe and fun environment at the Colorado Acro Fest.
By the Glass
When: 2/20, 6 – 9 pm
Where: Rembrandt Yard Art Gallery & Event Center
Now in its 10th year, this annual event draws a crowd and raises funds for Blue Sky Bridge, Boulder County’s child advocacy center. Guests may sample various beverages from Woods High Mountain Distillery, Upslope Brewing Co., Liquid Mechanics Brewing Co., and Backyard Soda Co. Sip delicious wines from the wine pull or snack on expertly crafted appetizers from Savory Cuisines Catering. Bid on something special from the silent auction or try your luck with the raffle.
Winter Craft Beer Fest
When: 2/29, 1 – 5 pm
Where: Bach Fieldhouse at Folsom Field
This highly anticipated event is back for another year. Beer lovers will delight in the plethora of craft brew options offered at this indoor gathering. Warm up with a hearty stout or celebrate the coming of spring with fruited beverages or tart sours. Tickets include all-you-can-drink beer samples and DD’s get in the door for $5. Food is not included in the cost of the ticket, but food vendors stand at the ready to supply delicious eats throughout the festival.
By February, many of us are feeling the full power of Colorado’s winter. Spend your time with Boulder’s wonderful community at any of these events to beat the cold weather blues. Each provides support for our diverse neighborhood of artists, athletes, and at-risk populations. Make our city even more spectacular by attending February’s array of local events.
