The Bacon and Beer Classic doesn’t require much of an introduction. The name alone should tell you what you need to know. For anyone who enjoys bacon, beer, or both, this festival is an obvious must. It is a unique traveling food and beverage festival that is hosted inside of baseball stadiums in some of our nation’s largest cities. It’s an annual event, and just a few of the many locations include New York, Chicago, and Seattle. Of course, we’re excited about the one that will be hosted in Denver on April 16…here is everything you need to know:
All of your favorite local breweries will be there.
If you didn’t already have a list of personal favorites, you certainly chose a few of our local breweries to love during Colorado Craft Beer Week. Now, not even a month later, many of those same breweries will be serving up the craft brew samples you went crazy for during that week-long event. Participating Boulder-based breweries include Boulder Beer, Asher Brewing Company, and Left Hand Brewing Company, just to name a few. Click here for a complete list of participating brewers.
You’ll love the list of participating restaurants, too.
There are currently 15 different local restaurants that have confirmed their participation in the 2016 Bacon and Beer Classic in Denver. According to the festival website, each of them will be serving different bacon-inspired menu items, and you can be sure that each one will pair perfectly with your brew of choice.
Take the opportunity to meet and greet the experts of our local food scene.
Each year, the Bacon and Beer Classic hosts various competitions, including everything from sweet recipes with bacon to weird craft beer flavor combinations. The judges of these events include a number of food writers and reporters that will surely be able to tell you anything you ever wanted to know about the food culture in Boulder and Denver. In fact, Ruth Tobias (one of the slated judges) even wrote the book! Her book, Food Lovers’ Guide to Boulder and Denver, is a great read for visitors and locals alike.
There’s more to do at the Bacon and Beer Classic than simply eat and drink.
In addition to all of the mouth-watering flavors we’ve mentioned, festival-goers will find just the right mix of activities and entertainment to make this event one to remember. Live music and dancing is an obvious choice, and there will also be interactive games meant to make you feel like a kid again. If you want to get even more hands-on than that, check out one of the many cooking demos and beer classes that will be available throughout the day. For updates and announcements about the activity and entertainment lineup, be sure to follow the festival on Facebook.
The Denver Bacon and Beer Classic is being held on one day, over two sessions. On April 16, you can attend from 1-4pm, from 7-10pm, or both. The event does accept volunteers, if you’re looking for a fun way to get involved in the community. Otherwise, tickets may be purchased online through Ticketmaster.
