Fair Trade Holiday Market
When: 12/2 – 3
Where: Boulder Menonite Church
This inclusive and welcoming church in Boulder is gearing up to host a Ten Thousand Villages market to kick off the season of giving. Instead of buying online or waiting until the last minute, mark your calendar to stop by this bazaar and purchase gifts with a lasting impact. Beautiful handmade goods are purchased from makers around the world at fair trade prices so that these entrepreneurs can invest money back into their own communities. The Fair Trade Holiday Market will have plenty to choose from for everyone on your list.
Cherish Marquez: Social Signs
When: 12/3 – 31
Where: BMoCA at Anythink Library
Interdisciplinary artist Cherish Marquez is showing a community-created mural at Anythink public library near Thornton. This work of art involves icons and symbols contributed by community members that represent individual identity. When put together, these symbols come together to create a cohesive, linked piece of art that then represents the entire community on the whole.
Lights of December Parade
When: 12/3, 6 pm
Where: Pearl Street
Take in the sights and the lights at this spectacular parade. As the sun sets, Pearl Street comes alive with intricately decorated floats, bands, and even Santa Claus himself. Boulder’s residents look forward to the Lights of December Parade each year and bring lawn chairs, snacks and hot toddies to enjoy a night spent outside in community with one another.
To Which We Belong
When: 12/7, 6pm
Where: The Dairy Arts Center
This film takes a look at farmers who are ditching conventional practices and implementing regenerative growing practices. To Which We Belong was directed by local filmmaker Pamela Tanner Boll and explores the practices of small to large scale farms. Before the screening, Boll will speak about the film and what led to her becoming interested in farming.
Winterfest 2022
When: 12/9 – 11
Where: The Colorado Chautauqua
No need to board a plane to visit the North Pole. Each winter, the Colorado Chautauqua transforms into a winter wonderland complete with horse-drawn carriage rides, Santa’s cottage, a Christmas tree, festive market and so much more. Entertaining guests from out of town? This weekend-long event is the perfect way to experience the Flatirons in their wintery glory. Take a mid-morning hike to enjoy Boulder’s beautiful outdoors, then warm up with a hot chocolate and historic cottage tour.
From outdoor hangouts to cozy, intimate evenings, Boulder has plenty to do and see this December. Take a break from obligatory holiday preparations and treat yourself and your loved ones to a night on the town. Grab dinner from one of Boulder’s wonderful restaurants and catch a film, do a little shopping, or soak in the lights.
