The ColderBOLDER 5K takes place on December 2, 2023. Designed to be the “polar opposite” of the BOLDERBoulder, the ColderBOLDER began in 2003 and attempts to keep the joy of running alive even as Old Man Winter rears his head. It features a fast and fun course that travels through the middle of the CU campus and ends with holiday festivities inside the university’s field house. Here’s what you need to know:
The ColderBOLDER Race Format
The ColderBOLDER is divided into 14 separate races, with the first 13 for participants who ran in the most recent BOLDERBoulder. These races put racers with similar times together so participants have a better shot at winning (there are a total of 84 medalists in the event). The 14th race is open for runners of all abilities and race times; it also welcomes joggers and walkers.
Registration for the ColderBOLDER is now live and gives you a choice of racing in person or virtually. The $59 registration fee includes a t-shirt and winter beanie, a $20 in-motion running gift card, a participation medal, a bib and timing tag, and breakfast burritos, donuts, and hot chocolate after you cross the finish line.
Lace up your shoes and jump into the holiday season feet first. The ColderBOLDER is the perfect chance to foster your love of running even in the chaos of the holidays.
