June is Pride Month, which originally started to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising. More generally, this month is a time to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender pride. To support and embrace our LGBTQ+ community members in Boulder County, I’d like to highlight a few events on the schedule for Pride Month. Each event outlined here is presented by Rocky Mountain Equality, a nonprofit that provides services, programs, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ folks in and around Boulder.
6/7: Longmont Pride Festival
On June 7th from 3:30-8:00 pm, come to Roosevelt Park in Longmont to celebrate Pride. This event, hosted in partnership with Hubbard Homes, will provide a day full of fun activities and entertainment for the entire community. At this Pride gathering, you’ll find goodies from Rocky Mountain Equality, art vendors, delicious local food, and much more.
6/15: Lafayette Youth Pride
This one is for the younger members (and allies) of the LGBTQ+ community. On June 15th from 12:00-4:00 pm, join the youth team from Rocky Mountain Equality in Lafayette for a family-friendly celebration. The block party takes place on Courtney Way and will offer attendees free entertainment, food, and activities.
6/21: QTPOC Pride Summer Solstice OTA Vogue Night
Celebrate Pride and the Summer Solstice with Rocky Mountain Equality, the Kiki House of Majik, and Mi Chantli! This event takes place in Boulder at Mi Chantli from 6:00-11:00 pm. The QTPOC Summer Solstice OTA Vogue Night isn’t one you’ll want to miss and will feature an incredible lineup of performers and events. Please note that this gathering is substance and tobacco-free and is 18+ after 9:00 pm. RSVP here.
6/21: 50+ Mixer
On June 21st, Rocky Mountain Equality is teaming up with the Boulder County Area Agency on Aging to host a 50+ mixer. Held at the Equality Center of the Rocky Mountains from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., this is a great opportunity for older LGBTQ+ folks to enjoy one another’s company as they celebrate Pride. 6/29: Queer Circus
Queer Circus is one of the most popular events in Boulder County during Pride Month. Junkyard Social Club is hosting this cabaret-style gathering, featuring local LGBTQ+ comedians, actors, poets, entertainers, and performers. Doors open at 7:00 pm, and the show begins at 8:00. 6/30: Boulder Pridefest
Pride Month in Boulder County culminates with Pridefest on June 30th. This beloved community event occurs at Boulder Central Park on the last day of June. Pridefest kicks off at 11:30 am and runs until 5:00 pm, and plenty of festivities keep you busy all day! This event offers activities, community partners sharing knowledge, and all the merchandise your heart desires. Top-notch vendors and performers will be appearing, and the full schedule will be announced soon. No need to RSVP–just come on by!
