Boulder loves celebrating holidays, and Independence Day is no exception. This year, there will be celebrations taking place all over town, from fundraisers and benefits to races, beer gardens, and even a car show. Whether your family prefers staying active, or would rather spend the day relaxing on the water, Boulder’s festivities will not disappoint.
Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast
Who doesn’t love a good breakfast? It is the most important meal of the day, after all. This 4th of July, start your day with a delicious and patriotic breakfast, prepared by the Gold Hill Fire Department.
From 8:30am to 11:00am, our local firefighters will be dishing up pancakes, bacon, coffee and a selection of juices for you and your family at Gold Hill Elementary School. All proceeds will go toward supporting the fire department, so be sure to tell your friends!
Cops Helping Soldiers Benefit: Motorcycle, Car Show and Poker Run
If you and your family are avid car enthusiasts, then Flatirons Crossing is where you’ll want to be this 4th of July. From 10:30am to 2:00pm, you can enjoy live music from The Time Banditz, and browse some of the most remarkable vehicles in the area. Cops Helping Soldiers is a nonprofit organization that assists soldiers by providing them with emotional and physical support. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to their cause.
Do you have a car you’d like to show off? The entry fee is only $20.00 per vehicle, and it’s tax deductible. There will be prizes for the top cars, as well as prizes for the best poker hand. There’s even a hot wing-eating contest! Pre-register here, or simply come on by and register that day.
4th of July at Waneka Lake
Waneka Lake Park in Lafayette is another great place to spend this year’s Fourth of July. This family friendly event lasts from 4:00pm until 10:30, and will finish off with a fireworks show at sunset. Children can enjoy pony rides, a bounce-house, face painting and balloon sculpting, while the adults enjoy an ice-cold beverage at the Beer & Wine Garden. There will be ample concessions, free shuttle service, and even live music by the Deja Blu Dance Band.
4th of July at the Boulder Reservoir
The Boulder Reservoir has always been one of the most popular destinations for families and college students alike on the Fourth of July. Every year on this day, the reservoir is filled with people enjoying its sandy beaches, calm waters, and live entertainment.
Festivities start as early as 8:00am, and last well past sunset. 5K races, sand volleyball tournaments, gunny sack races, and live music will take place all day. The boathouse will even be offering half-price rentals on canoes, paddle boats and sail boats all day long. Adults can enjoy the beer garden from 8:00am until 4:00pm, while the children enjoy a bouncy house, face painting, and many more fun activities.
Ralphie’s Independence Day Blast on Folsom Field
There’s no better place to watch the fireworks than Folsom Field. Festivities will include a performance by the Boy Scouts Color Guard, The Mighty Twisters, and Mad Hops jump rope team. There will even be an appearance from Ralphie, Boulder’s beloved mascot. Fireworks will begin as soon as the sun sets.
As you can see, Boulder has plenty in store for this year’s Independence Day. Whether you’re looking for family friendly activities that both you and the children can enjoy, or you simply want to let loose and have some fun, there will certainly be something for everyone!
