Program Structure and Offerings
Catalyze CU runs from mid-May to early August and provides participants with comprehensive resources to help them launch a business. These include networking events, mentor connections, goal-setting and accountability sessions, professional development opportunities, pitch coaching, and skill workshops. The program requires a significant time commitment, with in-person work sessions and individual team meetings scheduled weekly. Founders receive stipends to support their full-time dedication to their ventures during the accelerator.
Eligibility and Application Process
To qualify for Catalyze CU, at least one founding team member must possess a valid BuffOne card indicating affiliation with CU Boulder. While solo founders can apply, having a team is recommended due to the program’s intensive nature. Participants must live in Boulder, Colorado, and should have an established or ready-to-launch legal company to receive funding.
Success Stories and Impact
Since its inception, Catalyze CU has been instrumental in transforming innovative ideas into viable businesses. Stateless, a network-as-a-service company, was launched in 2016 by a team of PhD students: Murad Kablan and Assistant Professor Eric Keller from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. After completing Catalyze CU, the team was accepted to Techstars Boulder in the spring of 2017. By winter of the same year, seed funding had reached an impressive $1.4 million. In 2019, Stateless secured $11.33M in Series A funding.
The accelerator’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship has led to a strong track record of alumni success. Graduates have been accepted into prestigious programs, secured funding, earned grants, and launched successful crowdfunding campaigns.
