Boulder is home to numerous cultural destinations, world-class terrain, and innovative industries that all act as magnets, attracting visitors and new residents from around the globe. Boulder’s progressive culture makes it the perfect location for Street Wise, a mural festival celebrating a diverse group of artists. Here’s everything you need to know about the Street Wise inaugural mural event.
The Ethos Behind Street Wise
Street Wise seeks to unite public art, activism, and awareness throughout Boulder and its surrounding communities. This month long event hopes to bring together people from various backgrounds, creating a community focused on social change. Also known as artivism, this combination of art and activism encourages an open dialogue around social issues, with the intent of spurring positive change.
By including numerous artists from under-represented backgrounds, especially people of color, women, and LGBTQ, Street Wise is giving artists from all walks of life a chance to showcase their work, and through it, comment on our country’s current political, social, and cultural climate. Throughout September, October, and November, check out the 11 murals around Boulder that showcase the work of our talented local artists in addition to a collection of other art-based events.

Artists begin painting their individual mural installations on 9/23, at 7pm and the various locations can be found here. There are a whole host of additional activities to follow in the next month.
