Every four years, soccer fans across the world come together to cheer on their favorite teams at the FIFA World Cup. Founded in 1930, it’s one of the most popular sporting events in the world. Teams from across the globe face off against each other in a grueling, yet exhilarating month of non-stop soccer (or ‘futbol’ for the true fans).
This year’s World Cup is taking place in Brazil, a country that proudly holds 5 World Cup Titles. While many of us would love to take a month off and travel down to Brazil to see the action first-hand, it’s not the most likely option. Instead, why not get together with your fellow fans and watch the game at some of Boulder’s favorite sports bars?

Conor O’Neill’s
So where does one go in Boulder, when they want to catch one of the games? While Boulder has its share of sports bars, there are a few who pride themselves specifically for being soccer bars. Conor O’Neill’s is one of them. As a matter of fact, the owner’s son even plays for the Colorado Rapids!
As Boulder’s favorite Irish Pub, and given Tom, the owner’s affiliation with soccer throughout Colorado, it’s no surprise that soccer is the sport of choice here. If you love good beer and great company, you’ll fit right in at Conor’s. The games will be shown on all the TVs, all month long. They are even bringing in additional TVs, allowing patrons to view the matches from literally every corner of the bar.
Backcountry Pizza and Tap House
Backcountry Pizza is another great spot for watching the World Cup matches this year. For all of the games taking place between 3-6 pm, Backcountry will be offering half-priced appetizers and $1 off all drafts. With over 60 beers on tap, that’s quite the deal!

The matches will be shown at the bar, as well as in their banquet areas. If you’ve got a big group who loves delicious beer and wants to watch the game together, this is the place you’ll want to be.
Dark Horse
Who in Boulder doesn’t love the Dark Horse? It’s one of Boulder’s most beloved, low-key bars, where locals and college students bond with one another over great local brews, tricycle races, and delicious burgers. The Dark Horse will be holding specials for the World Cup all month, including $2.75 Budweiser and Bud Light whenever the United States is playing. The games will be shown on all the TVs, as well as on both projectors.
The Boulder Theater

This year, The Boulder Theater invites the public in for live streaming of all U.S. matches on the biggest screens in Boulder. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome. Doors will open one hour before each match. You’ll want to make sure to arrive early, because we all know this one is going to fill up fast!
