I love Fall in Colorado. There are many ways to celebrate this beautiful season near Boulder, Colorado. Whether you want to pick the best pumpkin in the patch or indulge in the spookier offerings around town, take a look at some of the destinations I share here:
Munson Farms
If you’ve lived in Boulder for a while, chances are good that you’ve heard about the awesome pumpkin patch at Munson Farms. This sprawling farm is our city’s best-known destination for pumpkin picking, and it’s easy to get to from any part of town. While there, you can peruse the u-pick pumpkins among the up-close mountain views. If you hurry over soon, you may even be able to purchase the last of the summer produce. If you missed it, you’ll still have a great selection of winter squash and pumpkins.
7th Generation Farm
7th Generation Farm is located in nearby Louisville (about a 25-minute drive from Boulder). When you purchase a ticket to the pumpkin patch, you’ll have access to the entire lineup of fall fun. The price of admission includes hayrides, fun in the corn, mazes, visits with the animals, and more! One-time tickets and season passes are available here.
Halloween Drive-In Movies
Boulder is known for offering great events for residents. This year, the city of Boulder is hosting Halloween drive-ins once again at Boulder Reservoir. This is a family-oriented event, so the movies won’t be too scary for most. On October 18th, the city is screening The Addams Family (2019) at 7:30 pm. On October 25th, stop by for a Beetlejuice (1988) showing at 7:30 pm. One ticket is valid for an entire carload, and you’ll receive a goodie bag with the price of admission. Book your spot soon! Terror in the Corn
If you’re seeking a truly terrifying experience, Terror in the Corn is for you. This is our state’s ultimate haunted house, and it takes place in the cornfield at Anderson Farms in Erie. This attraction is famous for being bone-chillingly scary, so it’s not for kids under 10 (or those who are easily frightened). A ticket to Terror in the Corn includes a day pass at Anderson Farms, so come ready to enjoy some not-so-scary fun as well.
Wicked Wanderings
On weekends until October 27th, Arts in the Open presents Wicked Wanderings on the trails at Chautauqua. You’ll check in at the picnic shelter behind Chautauqua Auditorium before 3:00, when the guided hike will begin. As you wander the trail, your guide will lead you to different scene locations. At each location along the path, performers will perform a production that may leave you unsettled. The warning “Don’t wander alone in the woods” will be fresh as you wonder what lurks in the forest. If you’d like to participate, grab your tickets here. Keep in mind that hikes are approximately two miles long, so you’ll want to bring water, snacks, sun protection, and a blanket to rest on.
