Those who know me can attest that I’m a big fan of Boulder Food Lab. I love the concept, and the space that Casey Easton has created is unlike any other. Whether you’re looking for a destination for date night, a way to spend quality time with kids, or an out-of-the-box team-building exercise, Food Lab is an excellent option. If you’re interested in expanding your culinary skills, you’ll want to pop in for a class at least once in 2024. As always, there’s a great lineup of events on the calendar. Here are a few of the upcoming cooking courses at Food Lab:
January 4: Everyday Indian
If you love the complex flavors of Indian cuisine but you’ve always been intimidated by the thought of making it at home, you’re in luck. Food Lab will guide you through a fun and delicious evening during the Everyday Indian class. On January 4th from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, you’ll learn how to prepare five different Indian recipes (shishito pakora, peach mint chutney, raita, kulcha paneer, and chana masala). If you can’t make it to the January event, Food Lab is offering this course again on February 20th.
January 7: Moroccan Nights
Familiar with Moroccan food or interested in trying it? Moroccan Nights at Food Lab is sure to be a hit. On January 7th, 2pm and 6:30pm time slots are available. During this class, you’ll work your way through several classic Moroccan dishes. Moroccan meatballs, Moroccan salad, preserved lemon, chicken and onion tagine, chermoula, and mujaddara rice are all featured on this vibrant menu. If you have to miss the January 7th session, Moroccan Nights is also available on February 18th.
January 20: Food + Wine Series
You won’t want to miss the Food + Wine Series at Food Lab if you appreciate great food paired with exceptional wine. On January 20th, you’ll have the opportunity to create festive small bites to pair with wines selected by the team at Dedalus. Participants will discover how to make four impressive small plates while enjoying a 2-3 oz tasting pour with each course.
January 30: An Evening in Israel
To learn how to create Israeli cuisine at home, mark your calendars for An Evening in Israel. On January 30th at 6:30 pm, attendees will craft and sample many of Israel’s most traditional dishes, including falafels, tabouli salad, and baba ganoush.
February 4: Fresh Pasta Workshop
Pasta is one of life’s great pleasures. If you’re tired of using boxed pasta and want to hone the skill of making the real deal, be sure to attend the Fresh Pasta Workshop. This delicious workshop will cover rolled and cut pasta, plus hearty sauces and a bright salad. Because this is such a popular class, time slots are available at 2pm and 6:30pm. Look for fresh pasta workshops throughout the year!
Food Lab is an asset to the Boulder community. It’s a place to gather, build community, and sharpen your culinary skills in a fun environment. The classes highlighted here are just a glimpse of what’s on the calendar for this year, so check back later for upcoming events!
