The BOLDERBoulder, a staple of springtime in the Centennial State, is returning for its 45th year. This event caters to everyone, from serious and competitive runners to joggers, walkers, wheelchair users, and spectators. Invite your friends and family to gather and hit the pavement on Memorial Day. Here’s why this race is considered one of America’s best:
About the BOLDERBoulder
The BOLDERBoulder began in 1979 as a small 10K that catered to the local running community. It has since grown into a marquee event; it is now considered one of the most respected races among runners nationwide. An average of 48,000 people participate each year, and over 70,000 spectators come to cheer on as participants cross the finish line inside Folsom Field.
The Waves
The BOLDERBoulder is divided into waves to manage the crowd and separate serious runners from hobbyists and those simply looking to have fun. This race also features a Wheelchair Pro Race, which starts at 6:45 a.m., and an International Invitational Pro Race, which starts at 11:15 a.m. and showcases some of the world’s best runners.
For the general public, waves are divided into runners, joggers, and walkers, as well as by qualified times (those able to run a 10K in under 75 minutes) and non-qualified times.
If you’re not yet registered, it’s not too late. You can sign up here and receive the following:
- A race bib (which tells you your wave time so you know when to head toward the starting line)
- An official timing tag
- An official shirt
- Stadium entry access for the pro race finish and Memorial Day tribute
- Snack bag and drinks
- Free beer from Avery Brewing Company (for those 21+)
- Free RaceDay Expo entry
Memorial Day Celebration
In addition to the 10K course, the BOLDERBoulder also features one of the largest Memorial Day celebrations in the country. This tribute honors the servicemen and servicewomen who have given their lives to protect the freedoms of our nation. The remembrance begins at noon in Folsom Field following the completion of the races.
Whether you’re a serious runner, a just-because jogger, a lackadaisical walker, or somewhere in between, the BOLDERBoulder is the perfect way to welcome spring, connect with the community, enjoy exercise in the great outdoors, and honor the military. Sign up today to take part in this coveted Colorado celebration.
