
With July just around the corner, you may be worried that you’ve missed the chance to enroll your son or daughter in an awesome summer camp and will have to settle for less. Luckily, that’s not the case as spots still remain at plenty of top-tier, thrilling, and educational camps late into the summer season. Whether you’re looking for camps focused on outdoor adventures, music and arts, or technology, here’s a list of some of our favorites around town this summer.
Outdoor Adventure Camps
Offering day camps and overnight programs, Avid4 Adventure aims to introduce kids to the power of the great outdoors. Avid4 accommodates children from 1st through 11th grades and runs until the end of July.
Avid4 programs are held in Boulder, Denver, Castle Rock, Colorado Springs, Lafayette and Highlands Ranch. No matter where you are in Colorado, you’ll be able to find a location right for you. Registration is open and ongoing on a first come first serve basis until all programs are at full capacity.
Operating in Boulder, Louisville, and Littleton since 1957, Thorne’s summer camp offers an exciting introduction to the outdoors for campers 3-15 years old. With over 150 unique camp experiences (from fly-fishing to wildlife tracking) that run through the first week of August, there isn’t an outdoor activity you won’t find at this renowned day camp. Registration is open and ongoing, including a waitlist if your desired program is at capacity.
This camp focuses on empowering girls 8-18 years old through 1-10 day outdoors programs for every skill level. Whether your daughter wants to embark on a 10-day backpacking trip or a single day canoeing lesson, there’s plenty of time left to register for a course. These summer programs run through August and are located in Jefferson and Boulder counties. Registration is open and ongoing.
Theater and Art Camps
Rocky Mountain Theater for Kids
Located in Boulder and Denver, RMTK day camp offers a “Younger Company” for aspiring actors ages 5-9 and an “Older Company” for kids and teens ages 8-17. RMTK includes professional theater staff with over 20 years of combined experience in the industry. At the culmination of the camp session, your child will perform Broadway classics such as Aladdin or Beauty & the Beast, depending on the session you enroll in. The camp runs through mid-August, but spots for some productions are filling up quickly, so register soon to ensure placement! Registration is open until capacity is reached.
Storycamp offers a 38-acre campus to help kids build confidence through connection with nature, circus art, sustainable architecture, and theater programs. Located at the Boulder Valley Waldorf School and tailored for children entering 2nd-7th grade, Storycamp runs through August 11th. Storycamp additionally offers an Early Childhood Camp for ages 3-7 and information for those programs can be found here. Registration is open and ongoing until program capacity is reached.
Creating jewelry, printing custom t-shirts, throwing clay, and creating ceramic wizards, potion bottles, and broomsticks are just a few of the programs offered at Studio Arts Boulder. This day camp welcomes children ages 6-16 and runs through mid-August, though does not hold sessions July 3rd – 7th.
Registration is open and completed through Eventbrite. All programs are open for registration unless marked “FULL”.
Computer Tech and Coding Camp
iD Tech Camp has been redefining what it means to be a summer camp in the 21st century since it was founded in 1999. With over 150 locations nationwide and a passion for all things STEM, iD Tech is proud to enter its 3rd season at University of Colorado Boulder. With a maximum student to teacher ration of 8:1, your child will receive individualized instruction in whatever program they enroll in. Courses are tailored for children aged 7-17 and range from such topics as “Adventures in Game Design: Minecraft” to “Cryptography & Cybersecurity”. Courses run through the end of July, but some sessions are already full, so head over to iD Tech Camp and register soon.
