Avery, one of Colorado’s most popular craft beer companies, recently moved a few miles north to Gunbarrel. After over 20 years in its location on Arapahoe, Avery opened its new brewery and taproom on February 16th. In the large new space, the brewing company will be able to expand its production and host more visiting diners and beer enthusiasts.
Adam Avery, a home-brewer who had originally moved to Colorado for rock climbing, founded Avery Brewing with his father in 1993. Last year, after recognizing the need for a larger brewery, the company began construction on its now completed new home. Located at 4910 Nautilus Court, the expansive new Avery headquarters is a 95,000+ square foot facility that houses the brewery and corporate offices. The new production space will allow the popular craft beer company to meet its growing business demands, as Avery continues to gain recognition nationwide.
Avery’s new facility is also home to a large tasting room and restaurant with an outdoor patio and available rental space for private parties. Chef Chris Blackwood, formerly of West End Tavern, helped put together the dining menu, which offers a diverse selection of appetizers and main dishes. Eye-catching items include the barbecue nachos, which features smoked cheeses, pork belly beans, and your choice of brisket or pork on top of corn chips, as well as the fried rabbit & waffles, topped with tasso gravy and chili cherry jam. The restaurant also features vegetarian options, including three different salads, a seitan sandwich, and roasted veggie tacos.
While Avery’s new restaurant is exciting, the main draw to its brewery is still the taproom. Equipped for 30 draft beers, Avery will continue to serve pints to guests and sell growlers to-go in the new taproom. The current selection features a mix of seasonal brews and year-round favorites. Avery standards include the Belgian Wheat style White Rascal, as well as the malty Ellie’s Brown Ale. Rotating beers and taproom rarities include the Oatmeal Porter, Mint Chocolate Stout, Chai Brown, and Dry-Hopped IPA.
With its new full-scale, self-operated restaurant and a greater selection of beers on tap, Avery’s move north to Gunbarrel is a great new destination for craft beer lovers. As of March 2nd, the taproom and restaurant are open everyday from 11am to 11pm, with guided tours of the brewery starting at 4pm daily.
