
Spring is in full swing this April and Colorado will be buzzing with exciting events all month long. From festivals in Boulder to concerts in Denver, there will be plenty happening to keep you entertained. Here’s a sample of all the fun things to do this month:
Boulder County Farmers’ Market
When: April 4th – November 21th
Where: Boulder & Longmont
The Farmers’ Market season starts April 4th, bringing fresh local produce and homemade products to Boulder County residents. The Boulder Market is open Saturdays from 8-2pm on 13th Street between Canyon and Arapahoe, as well as Wednesday evenings from 4-8pm starting on May 6th. The Longmont Market is also open Saturdays, but from 8-1pm, and is located at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. Both markets offer a wide selection of delicious, freshly harvested goods from spring through fall.

Recycled Runway 6
When: April 7th, 6:30pm
Where: Boulder Theater, 2032 14th St.
I’m proud to be one of the sponsors of this year’s Recycled Runway, a fashion show featuring the work of local teens. The event is a culmination of a workshop hosted by Common Threads, a consignment clothing shop and design lab here in Boulder, where teenage participants learn how to use found material to create sustainable fashion. Join me in supporting these young on Tuesday, April 7th at the Boulder Theater. $8 General Admission tickets are available online.
Game of Thrones Premiere
When: April 12th, 6:30pm
Where: Boulder Theater, 2032 14th St.
Boulder Theater will be screening one of most anticipated TV events of the year: the Game of Thrones season 5 premiere! The hit HBO show, which is popular with fantasy geeks, historical fiction buffs, and TV drama watchers alike, begins its new season on April 12th. You can watch along with other excited fans at the Boulder Theater screening. The event is first come, first served and free to all 21+ fans.
Taste of Pearl
When: April 19th, 2-6pm
Where: Various locations in Downtown Boulder
In addition to the beginning of the Farmers’ Market season, local foodies have another event to look forward to this April. Downtown Boulder’s Taste of Pearl takes place on April 19th from 2-6pm. The one-day culinary event features food and wine pairings from 15 different participating Boulder restaurants and Colorado wineries. Attendees can sample these tasty treats throughout the various galleries and boutiques in Downtown Boulder. Tickets are $65 per person (21+ only), and part of the proceeds will help fund the Emergency Family Assistant Association (EFAA), an organization dedicated to providing food and shelter for local residents in need.
Water-Wise Landscape Seminar: Intro to Xeriscape
When: April 20th, 6-8pm
Where: Center for ReSource Conservation, 2639 Spruce St.
Water conservation is incredibly important, especially in landscape, where wasting this valuable resource happens inadvertently for most. Luckily, the Center for ReSource Conservation offers helpful advice on how to be more water efficient. On April 20th, the CRC will be hosting an introductory seminar to Xeriscaping, a method of landscaping and gardening that drastically reduces water usage. Whether you have a big lawn or a small garden plot, this free seminar can teach you how to incorporate Xeriscape techniques into your landscaping. You can register for the event online.
She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry at The Dairy Center
When: April 22nd – 25th
Where: The Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut St.
The Dairy Center for the Arts will be screening many films this April including the documentary She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry. The film focuses on the turbulent and extremely influential women’s rights movement of the late 1960s. She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry aims to depict the movement truthfully, while inspiring a new generation of activists. Tickets for the film are on sale now.
Boulder Philharmonic Season Finale: Legendary Virtuosity
When: April 25th, 7:30pm
Where: CU Boulder’s Macky Auditorium
The Boulder Phil will conclude its season on April 25th with the finale show, Legendary Virtuosity. Featuring the premiere cellist Zuill Bailey, the concert is dedicated to the music of the celebrated composers Anatoly Lyadov and Dvorak. Tickets to the show are available now and prices vary depending on seat location.

BrüFrou
When: April 25th
Where: Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum, Denver
Local foodies are sure to have a fun time this April at the second annual BrüFrou, a culinary and craft beer festival in Denver. This tasty one-day event, which is held inside Wings Over the Rockies, a WWII-era hanger turned museum, will feature over 50 food and beer pairings from 80 different Colorado chefs and brewers. Participating restaurants include The Kitchen Next Door (Union Station), TAG, and Harman’s Eat & Drink. They’ll be teaming up with breweries like Avery, Odell, and Coda. Tickets for this popular event are still available but make sure to get yours soon!
2015 Dream Kitchens Tour
When: April 25th & 26th
Where: various locations
Hosted by the “I Have a Dream” Foundation of Boulder County, this annual Dream Kitchens Tour invites all local design lovers to visit some of the most innovative and beautifully designed kitchens in the county. Participants can gain inspiration for their own kitchen design plans as they tour the different homes. Tickets for this fundraising event are $20 (good for either Saturday or Sunday) with proceeds benefiting the “I Have a Dream” Foundation, a non-profit that supports the academic and professional goals of low-income youth in Boulder County.
Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival
When: April 26th, 1-5pm
Where: Pearl Street Mall, Broadway to 15th St.
Another fun event happening in Downtown Boulder this April is the Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival. On April 26th, the Tulip Fairy and her elves will put on a theatrical stage performance and lead a parade down Pearl Street Mall. This annual spring affair is great for young children but can be fun for the whole family, too. Activities include face painting, cookie decorating, and wildlife safety lessons. The festival is free and open to the public from 1-5pm.
CONCERTS
The Ting Tings at Gothic Theatre
When: April 1st, 8pm
Where: Gothic Theatre, 3263 S. Broadway (Englewood)
There are many great concerts taking place throughout Colorado this month, including the The Ting Tings show at the Gothic Theatre. Known for its pop dance music and electrifying live performances, the British duo will be playing there on April 1st. Tickets are on sale now with prices ranging from $15-22.
Stars at Bluebird Theater
When: April 1st, 8pm
Where: Bluebird Theater, 3317 E. Colfax (Denver)
Another great show on April 1st is STARS at The Bluebird Theater. With its orchestral-driven sound and emotional lyrics, the band has built a strong fan base over the past 15 years. Tickets for this Denver concert are available online for $23 or $26 at the door on the day of the show.

SAVOY at Red Rocks
When: April 25th, 7pm
Where: 18300 W. Alameda Parkway (Morrison)
Attending a concert at Red Rocks is a classic spring and summertime activity for Coloradoans. On April 25th, you can check out the electro-rock band SAVOY at Red Rocks Amphitheater. The Brooklyn-based band is originally from Boulder and has been gaining steady popularity with its unique sound and mesmerizing live performances, which include laser lights. Tickets for the show are on sale now.
