Boulder, Colorado is beautiful year-round, but it’s especially stunning in the spring. Seasonal rains transform the steely winter Flatirons into a lush, verdant backdrop, as wildflowers paint the landscape with swathes of bright color. Everything’s in bloom, from the trees lining the Boulder Creek to the dandelions creeping up out of cracks in the sidewalks. At the same time, some of our favorite traditions return to the community. Celebrate our city’s vibrant local arts scene during the 5th annual Boulder Arts Week. With events such as art walks, exhibitions, performances, lectures, and more, Boulder Arts Week highlights our community’s incredible creatives and their contributions to the city’s rich culture.

Where: 13th Street between Canyon & Arapahoe
The day we’ve all been waiting for is finally here: it’s the first day of the 2018 Boulder Farmers Market! Each Saturday beginning April 7th, dozens of local vendors gather on 13th Street to show and sell their homegrown produce and handmade goods. Featuring live music each week, and artisan shows every second Saturday of each month, it’s no surprise that the Farmers Market is always bustling.

Where: Hotel Boulderado
The famous Hotel Boulderado presents its first ever Spring Tea in partnership with the downtown Boulder Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival. Choose from a selection of fine teas and tasty treats, from tea sandwiches and scones to delectable chocolate-dipped strawberries. Little ones are welcome and costumes are encouraged.

Where: Pearl Street Mall
It’s not springtime in Boulder without the annual Tulip Fairy & Elf Festival! Children dressed in their best fairy and elf costumes join the beautiful Tulip Fairy in welcoming Pearl Street’s annual display of more than 15,000 tulips. With live performances, face painting, fun activities, and appearances by the Fairy Queen herself, this event is a fantastic way for kids and their families to celebrate spring.

Where: Eldora
Don your most outrageous outfit and take a short trip to Eldora for the last day of the season, featuring live entertainment and the infamous Pond Skim. Bold participants fly down the ramp and see how far they can ski or board across the pond before they get wet. Whether you decide to take the plunge or not, Eldora’s Spring Luau is an exciting send-off to another great ski season.

Join the theatrical production process as Local Lab presents its three-day festival of new works, featuring fully-staged readings of three new plays. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in conversations with playwrights and others, helping to move these performances toward full production.
It’s time to trade your puffy down coat for a light jacket and get ready to bask in that springtime sun. Between multiple arts and cultural events, the return of the Famers Market, and everything else going on this month, there will be plenty of opportunities to go out and play.
