When you relocate to a new neighborhood, town, state, or country, there are obvious things to get in order. You need electricity and water turned on in your home, after all. But there are also smaller details in your daily routine that you need to rediscover in your new area: your morning coffee spot, where to golf and dine on the weekends, and even simple things like choosing a new grocery store. We’re here to help. Here are our tips for feeling right at home in Boulder.
Where should I buy ski passes?
It’s never too early to begin thinking about ski season., As you’re getting settled in town, start researching your options so that you’re ready to hit the ground running as soon as the first snowfall hits. Eldora Mountain is only 35 minutes from downtown Boulder, and the world-class mountains of Summit and Vail counties lie just a few hours west of our town.
You can purchase a pass for Eldora through its website, and the Epic Pass offers various ski packages that include Vail, Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, and more. You can compare and purchase these passes online or at Boulder Ski Deals (2525 Arapahoe Road). While you’re there, don’t forget to peruse their giant selection of skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, etc.
Where should I work out?
Locally owned Rally Sport is an excellent place to begin your fitness endeavors in Boulder. It’s best described as a full-service athletic club with a community atmosphere. With more than 140 workout classes offered weekly, a massage studio, outdoor and indoor lap pool, and swim lessons and a nursery for the littles, you’ll never get bored—especially with their stellar view of the Flatirons.
More of a lifter? We love CrossFit Sanitas for its fun and challenging classes, expert coaching, and perks for members, including Boulder’s first cold plunge pool for recovery, yoga and endurance classes, and more.
Where do I get a bike or get my bike serviced?
Boulder consistently ranks in the top 10 cities for cycling, so make sure your bike is in tip-top shape. We love the selection at Boulder Cycle Sport (three locations in Boulder) Pro Peloton (2516 Broadway), and Vecchio’s Bicicletteria (1833 Pearl Street). With a full range of top-of-the-line road, mountain, and cyclocross bikes, you’ll be ready to take on the trail, your commute, or any of Boulder’s many bike paths.
Which clubs should I join?
The Boulder Country Club combines many of our favorite elements of Boulder: fine dining, exquisite wines, outdoor activities, healthy living, and poolside relaxation. Besides its 18-hole golf course that sprawls among lakes and mature trees, it offers a state-of-the-art athletic center, indoor and outdoor tennis, indoor and outdoor pool, and year-round activities for the whole family.
Just north of Boulder lies the Lake Valley Golf Club, which in addition to its 6,891-yard championship golf course, offers a lake where members can enjoy fishing, swimming, and boating during the summer.
What was once the basement of a 19th-century public school is now the Highland City Club, where members gather, relax, and discuss ideas. Ideal for meeting small groups of friends for dinner and hosting intimate lectures, members enjoy the cozy, yet chic, feel of the club that brings Boulder residents together as family.
Get involved in Boulder’s Jewish community at the Boulder Jewish Community Center (JCC), which offers programs for everyone in your crew, including specialized events for women, kids, and young professionals. Located in a brand-new facility on 6007 Oreg Ave., its community concierge helps newcomers with everything from finding a shul to job searching to choosing a family dentist.
